Social Movement. Something that H&M has caught onto (being the incredibly clever merchandising company that it is), is the idea of corporate responsibility and/or recognition of the organic trend. Organic cotton has become more heavily emphasized at H&M this Autumn, marked with special tags explaining the phenomena.
ORGANIC COTTON AT H&M
H&M started using organic cotton in 2004, incorporating it into a selection of garments. The aim was to help increase the demand for organically cultivated cotton, which still only accounts for a very small percentage of world cotton production. Since then …

Every female celebrity out there seems to come up with the idea that designing their own clothing line will allow for them to expand their brand even further - Hilary Duff with ‘Stuff’, Amanda Bynes and ‘Dear’, Paris Hilton, and most notable of the list: Lauren Conrad.
Based on the original item she created and wore to the Teen Choice Awards, the preview of her fashion line actually looks wearable. It’s actually an impressive line as it will retail at stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Fred Segal. Check …

I was randomly browing through fashion blogs online and stumbled upon this incredible website filled to the rim with gorgeous, unique, practical, and stylish pieces.
Heimstone’s website showcases mod-styled, avant-guarde dresses, jackets, and accessories. The black and white simplicity of the items on the left hand side of the website can be hovered above to show a larger coloured image of the items. Heimstone raises from Paris, with an office location in New York. These classic items are a breath of fresh air for Autumn ‘07.

This year I recommend either burying the UGG trend or conforming - because we just can’t seem to escape it. Every year it’s as if we find more ways to hate the classic UGG. It’s incredible how girls still manage to wear them with virtually every imaginable outfit from skirts and short shorts to dressy themed clothes. Not only have UGGs still remained in the majority of young Canadian women’s wardrobes, but this year UGG has introduced new patterns.

Skater shoes/comfort shoes have been the hottest trend for the last year - Vans, Keds, and most importantly Converse (Namely Chucks) have made a huge appearance everywhere from the streets (skateboarders) to the business professional and casual (Club Monaco mannequins have sported plain white canvas chucks alongside cashmere sweater vests and starched shirts).
What is it about these classic shoes that make them so appealing? Well I think I’ve broken it down for myself:
They’re cheap. They all retail at approximately $60.00, sometimes even less if you catch it on sale or …

As if they weren’t selling enough clothes through their celebrity endorsements/guest designers and wide array of cheap(-ly made) clothes, walking through the new Queen Street West Toronto H&M store I stumbled upon a copy of H&M’s magazine. Between the glossy covers lie pages and pages of well matched trendy pieces bursting to life with colour and fall style.
I’m not sure if I perhaps caught onto this magazine a little late, and so this is new to me. But this is definitely a fantastic resource for trend addicts - a great …

The oversized glasses were a hit in 2006, but why? Step aside large frames because aviators and horn rimmed glasses are moving in for Fall 2007…

The most versatile trend that isn’t subject to seasonality lies in neckcandy.
Pashminas/scarves allow for creativity throughout the seasons as they can be wrapped around, tied in a knot, worn as a shawl, and add colour and warmth to any outfit.
Favourites:
- Warm colours (Burnt yellows and oranges, cranberry coloured)
- Intricately sewn designs to mimic tapestries
- Crinkled linen
- The ever popular houndstooth (big and small patterned)
