I’m used to boys throwing a ball cap over their sloppy hairdos (or as my friend likes to say, ‘nappy hair’). But why not push it to the next level and look like you actually put in effort, by picking a more edgy, character-enhancing hat? Paperboy, fedoras, berets, toques, whatever - show me you tried.
Big It Up has been making waves for some odd years now, a Toronto-based hat company which has a large product selection, and is expanding into the traditional retail settings with a booth set up at …

Bright Neon Colours. Bold Gorgeous Makeup. Oozing with L.A. Style and Design. Dimepiece is a term that steps out of the young and hip Hollywood Scene (for girls that are a perfect 10), giving birth to DimePiece Designs.
I think the thing that stood out the most for me about this brand was that despite the fact that the pieces are strictly graphic tshirts, they incorporate it with other clothes, accessories, and even bright makeup which obtains the true LA fashionista image in their photoshoots and ad campaigns. I love how …

Any of us with experience working in an office knows a One-tie, that one guy who always comes into work wearing the same raggedy tie and shirt combo each and every day. Here’s a tip for personal and professional success, don’t be him! Mix and match new shirt and tie combinations each day to ensure you never look as down on your luck as he does. After all, One-tie is usually the same person as One-job, the guy who’s been working in the same cubicle, doing the same job, wearing …

Toronto Talent. It’s so fresh and endearing to see locals growing their business and doing it right. GoodBoy Clothing has been around for about a year (still a baby), and I can just sense that they’re heading for big things. Their company values are built right into their sharp lime green logo - I would repeat it but interpret it for yourself using your own imagination.
When you first visit the website you’ll delve back into your childhood innocence, as it is created under the guise of being a ‘popup story …

They used to be the hottest brand among teenagers from the early 2000’s, their product sold in all the major teeny bopper stores (JeanMachine, OverTheEdge, BoatHouse), and then they managed to somehow disappear off the radar. Alternating between the ‘555′ and ‘Triple5Soul’ emblems plastered typically over the front of their garments (likely to be zipups), these massively overpriced items were donned by a nation of youth. Am I wrong in saying that no one really pays attention to this Brooklyn-based clothing line, or am I the only one in all …

Recently I’ve noticed the prevalence of blazers in casual settings, an event that was long overdue. Combinations with funky knits and brightly colored accessories have added personality to what was typically drab wear. However, it is important to stick to subdued patterns and colors for the blazer itself to avoid looking too busy. An excellent example is this nice, simple, 2 button piece from Ralph Lauren:

Skipping the basic combos of blazers with sweaters and tee’s, let’s look at it in combination with what seems to be everywhere now, or should …

I don’t know what it is that makes Lauren Conrad so appealing - her Californian wholesome good looks or the fact that she can whisk through more unnecessary drama than anyone else in the continent without really doing anything exciting or even changing her facial expression. Anyhow, the release of the 10 pieces in her Fall line are out with another 40 pieces or so to be released in Spring ‘08. Thus far there has been fairly good feedback, however the fact that the line is essentially a commodity of …

Vero Moda - Queen Street West ‘v’elcomes you to our trendster neighbourhood. This Dutch brand entered the Toronto market in opening its store on September 20th, 2007. I haven’t visited the store (but I plan to next week), however the website describes it thoroughly as ‘one of Europe’s biggest fashion brands started in 1987′. As its brand continues to grow and expand globally, it follows in the footsteps of retail powerhouses such as H&M, Mango, and Zara as it gradually takes over North America. Do we need more European influences? …

Adidas is renowned for its original branding and style whether it be through their retro collections, street-catered lines, or original product lines. This is precisely why Stella McCartney aligning her brand alongside this lifestyle label appears to be unique and refreshing. Her original creations for Adidas are not only presented as a celebration of runway style in activewear, but they are considered higher end as they retail in luxury stores such as Holt Renfrew (for you Canadians out there). The ad campaigns for her exclusive Adidas line are not …
