Hello My Favourite People: Dear Readers,
First: THANK YOU for continually visiting and letting us know what you think.
Second: We asked around to see what people thought about UrbaneBloc and the general consensus was that we needed more Unique content and a compilation of actual pieces. It’s time to truly recognize why we love fashion - for the love of colour, looks, styles, and the way fantastic pieces take your breath away. Time to change the way we look at how to put things together and push the envelope.

And you thought NYLON stopped at the fresh, urban magazine. I was strolling through Aritzia the other day (one of my three visits per week to the mall), and I found this awe-inspiring book filled with pages and pages of beautifying tips. The imagery was so raw yet perfect that I adored skimming through the overpriced soft-cover (it was about $25.00). The eclectic collection of image enhancing techniques was endearing not only because of the empowering content, but the photography and design held within its covers. I love books of …

You know the drill - man yourself up and prepare to go elbow-to-elbow against that infuriating woman in the furry hat that smells like mothballs.
Holiday Season shopping is here, and the scent of fear and social stigma is in the air. Working near a huge shopping centre has reminded me of the annual horrors that we face the month before Christmas. HOLIDAY HOURS ARE ANNOUNCED FOR DECEMBER. Now get to crackin’.

Everyone wears jeans and everyone wears black. So why don’t they wear black jeans? Not only are they simple, clean, and trendy, they can instantly add a touch of class to any outfit. Instead, cast in the shadows of their navy cousins, they perch on sales racks like puppies at the pound, sitting, waiting, and hoping. But rejoice, now starting at prices lower than your beloved low riders, there is no good reason why there shouldn’t be good BJ’s in all our lives.

Rich Boys mix well with Hot Pink Bags. I’m referring to Holt Renfrew, the increasingly popular Canadian luxury retail powerhouse. Hey, that was all in one breath.
Take another one. Our modern fashion world welcomes metro sexual men as they push the boundary of general interest in fashion to downright obsession. My curiousity lies in the success of Holt Renfrew and its bright coloured bags.
In tune with the Holiday Season, www.helpmeholts.com is a new campaign that they have for those looking for present ideas. Hint: Girls love pink, and you should …

Boys and their Money Clips. Whether it be attached to a slim-fit wallet or sitting in solidarity, these bill-accessories truly have to have massive profit margins.
I didn’t have exposure to these silly contraptions until about three years ago, when I spotted a friend fiddling with a wad of bills and a skinny piece of metal. What I want to know is, what is it that makes a good money clip - flexible and especially malleable material? One with a minescule logo on it? Please advise.

Suspenders are my beloved friend. I searched high and low for you, succumbing to the evils of teenage accessory stores such as Claire’s and Ardene. I wanted you for the summer, to wear with shorts and a cute shirt tucked it. It took me a good two months to find your lone self, perched aimlessly on the men’s accessories rack at the local H&M. Skinny. Black. Long. Perfect Suspenders.
I wore them a total of twice, and I haven’t looked back. I miss you dearly and I hope we cross …

Part of a weekly issue, piece by piece will set out to create a timeless wardrobe for all occasions, piece by piece. It will introduce one article of clothing that is an essential part of any man’s closet.
First up is something that has been a part of how I present myself for the past two years: the quintessential cardigan. Once the realm of grandpa’s and Mr. Rogers, modern cardigans are slimmer, sleeker, and sexier. With every design house and a couple of lower end stores carrying them, there is absolutely …

Pardon the lame Star Wars reference but enough is enough! Guys, why are all your ties striped? What happened to wacky polka dots, funky criss-crosses, and plain dependable solids? Believe it or not, stripes are no longer the safe way to add variety to your outfit. Not only do striped ties clash with striped shirts (an amazing way to add spice to an outfit), they’re now worn by everyone and their daddies too. So next time you’re in your favourite tie store, try on some of the following:

This post is a response to ThatGirl’s recent post titled “The Universal Indifference” which asks “What happened to the movement of men redeeming themselves by caring more about grooming and appearance than ever before?”
Guys, while we are not indifferent, the bad news is we’re ignorant. However, good news is with literally hundreds of magazines and channels devoted to feminine fashion, we are not to blame. With the recent shut down of cargo magazine (one of three great periodicals covering male fashion in North America) we were left with even fewer …
