It’s not everyday you see two brands on opposite ends of the fashion spectrum come together. On one hand you have LV the king of monograms and commercialized fashion and on the other, Comme des Garcons the quirky, low-key, avant-garde label working together to create a historic line of women’s hand bags to commemorate LV’s 30th anniversary in Japan.
“In designing them, I have kept Louis Vuitton’s traditional concept as it is, but sometimes two handles become one, sometimes two handles become eight…” – Rei Kawakubo, Creative Director of CDG …

I came across a really interesting streetwear concept early in the year – bamboo designer clothing. JUZD is a local brand that has established its line based on the concept of organic bamboo fabric. Want to learn more? Jing Liu, JUZD’s Lead Designer, takes us through the ins and outs of the brand.

If you’re still stuck on the title, baffled by how a clothing line can name something in such a complicated manner, feel at ease with the fact that it actually happens to be a great offering. Gytha (a gift) Mander (from me), struck me as too odd to be true, modeling its logo after a 4-legged insect and models styled in a dark and timely fashion. Trust me, after getting over the pre-judging, you’ll marvel at the classic make and the twist of contemporary that Gytha Mander presents.

If you’re not into huge clunky splashers like the cult-favourite, Hunter rainboots, then Hunter’s got something else in store for you. If you were nervous about taking the plunge, now’s a better time than any with these functional yet stylish boots (though retailing at $149-ish for heavy-set boots might make you a tad on edge). Nothing like judging a book like it’s cover – contrary to popular folklore, we all like to judge people based on their exteriors. At least in fashion and modelling. What better way than to have a comprehensive countdown?
I was on the search to learning more about big names in the male modelling industry (seeing as the female models are all-too aggressive in their PR spread). Models.com has a great “Top 50″ Male models countdown which will give you the rundown of the best faces in the business right now.

Here’s a new denim line that I instantly clicked with: Bread Denim. It’s not quite your Antik or Acne, but it’s name is definitely representative of its style. Classic.
The fit and cut looks to be a fairly wide range – from slim fit to relaxed and casual, Bread Denim is targeted at the young and urban. Positioned as a premium yet ‘down-to-earth’ denim line, Bread Denim is the boy that found his way into Hollywood, or the wholesome girl looking for something new. ‘Scuse my seemingly aimless metaphoric prose.

This is for a good laugh – Sanuk Sandals (hey, what’s with this blog and seemingly obscure sandals?) was brought to my attention from my comrade Paul. What’s so distinctive about this puppies? Well their landingpage spokesperson is a grade-A hippie and/or green-smoke lover, and several of their offerings resemble burlap sacks (which they refer to as “SideWalk Surfers“). Aside from the overbearingly awkward design, it would come as a surprise that this things actually aren’t cheap, sitting at a price range of $40 (for sandals) to $55+ for the …

The latest and greatest in summer tank tops trends seems to be the elaborate back design (which sucks for me, seeing as I’m always forced to wear a cardigan in frigid air conditioning. I know, hard life). Racer backs and lacy designs have rapidly moved in on all of my frequented stores (Gap, Urban Outfitters, etc), and the not-so-frequented (Limite, any other trashy club-esque retailer).
Why are they great? Because it’s a spin on the ordinary – I’m loving the simplicity of the front of a tanktop and the intricacies of …
