Cazal Eyewear – true stunners

Cazal Eyewear

I’m in love with these sunglasses – just because they’re likely the most elaborate things that I would ever consider donning on my face. They’re large, they’re black and gold (remind anyone of the Sam Sparro song?), and they’re just perfect for my lavish lifestyle (hah, please detect extreme sarcasm). To put it more in context for you – the idolized Gwen Stefani has worn them on many occassions. Cazal Eyewear boasts high quality eyewear has been around since 1975 with touchpoints in Berlin, New York, and Tokyo. Created by internationally renowned designer Cari Zalloni (Ca-Zal – get it?), the brand is making waves in Toronto at the Gafas Sunglasses boutique on Queen West (561 Queen Street W). I’ve seen the pair pictured above priced at $300 here.

Ecstatic to check them out in person next week sometime, will let you all know if I go home with them (squealing silently).

Jacob Boutique has me starstruck

Jacob Boutique Spring '09

I know most people aren’t quivering when I talk about mall brands, but Jacob has really redeemed itself in my eyes – they’ve churned out some solid designs and high quality wear (though the pricing is a bit stiff still). I found myself captivated by their new wears for the Spring / Summer – it’s outstandingly classic, professional, and extremely gorgeous at the same time. Maybe it’s just the timelessness of black and white, but this had me stop in my tracks to marvel, and trust me, not many things do that to me.

Agree or disagree?

Skin and Threads

Skin and Threads

While the name paints a vivid image in your mind, the brand conveys a lighthearted, clean and simple, and casual luxury with a wide array of high quality basics. Take it from the Skin and Threads bio:

Skin and Threads was a more an extension of lifestyle than the creation of a fashion label for first-time designers Penelope Cohen and Emma Gathercole. With an intuitive understanding of natural materials and processes, Skin and Threads works fine merino knits, sheer baby cotton and organic cotton into a range of tanks, skirts, tees, dresses, and leggings. Clean lines and simple detailing in an array of colors make the garments the ideal wardrobe staples that can be worn as separates or layered together. The clothes are refreshingly wearable, bringing ethical fashion to the forefront of minds and making it a real fashion choice, not a compromise.

Embraced by our favourite Shopaholic Isla Fisher and my hero Hayden Panettiere, the scarves are only $38.00 at skinandthreads.com, available in black, cream charcoal, chocolate, dark olive, bright blue, and mango (the colour descriptors alone are tempting). Gorgeous!

Tell Me That You’ll Open Your Eyes

In true lookbook.nu style (oh gah, I adore that website) I’ve titled this lyrics from a song. Snow Patrol that is, the concert that I’ve been yearning to back to. Regardless, it’s been five days (likely my longest dry spell in ages) since I’ve last posted and here I am again (publish Wayne, demands the people!)

My things are in a complete disarray again, I’ve learned that it’s important to simplifiy my life because things outside of your belongings are never ever simple. I’ve learned that my love for clothing is absolutely out of control and needs to be contained somehow, and I’ve learned that being mobile is the most important thing in life.

Upcoming things – that video draw that I owe you guys for the MGMT cds (mm mm good, love that CD), an interview with the ever amazing Fidelity Denim, a bunch of finds, and I owe you Torontonians a great event come July (full blown planning is starting come Friday). So that’s it folks – enjoy my bout of narcississm, because you won’t be seeing this many photos of me in one time span for awhile (wink wink). By the way, check out this hot image from JWu Photography (Justin Wu)! It’s the homemaker complacency that I fear most. Enjoy!

Q&A with LENKA

Have you heard of a little song called “The Show”? If not you definitely have to get on it (click here to see the adorable video). LENKA has been on repeat for me as of lately (especially during this past holiday season) – it’s so upbeat and cheerful that you can’t help but to feel spirited when listening to it. Read on to learn a little more about this rising Aussie pop-happy singer.
