Smell Like Sex on the Beach

Demeter Sex on the Beach

Ever wake up after a long night out and thought: “hey, wish they bottled this fragrance?”, or “why can’t I smell like sex on the beach?”

Before you jump all over me for those double-entendres that I tend to walk right into, this one was intentional because well, it’s literal (if you think about the drink not…anyway). Demeter Fragrance Library is a collection of fragrances for the home and body that range in all deliciousness (erm, flavours they call them, not scents). Taking from brands such as Hershey’s, Jelly Belly, and Tootsie Rolls, there’s something to suit all your cravings.

There’s also an abundance of hilarious scents such as Play Doh, Christmas Tree, and Paperback, in case you can’t get enough of plummeting into nostalgia. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Zara, Zara, Zara, Zara

Zara's got some goods
What is going on with Zara lately?

I went in the other day and not only did I get EXACTLY what I was looking for (actually 3 of what I was looking for—I haven’t shopped in a while), I could have left with like 50 other pieces, including a chocolate brown bag trimmed with fringe and some lime green four inchers that almost made me weep right there in the store.

Zara is doing nothing for the recessionista lifestyle I’m trying to lead!

Geez I got bills to pay.

Converse’s British Rock Collaboration

Converse British Rock Collaboration

Ever get the crazy inkling to wear a little piece of Pink Floyd on your feet? How about yearning for a shoe that mimicks a straight jacket, inspired by Ozzy Osbourne? Don’t kid yourself – you have. You have and now you’re so able to with Converse’s hottie Brit Music Collabo Collection. It’s a mouthful, I know, I can completely sympathize as I type. Regardless of my ramblings, Converse has gone at getting a piece of rock history on your feet again. This collection celebrates bands that caused disruptions to the music scene, ones that have since become absolutely iconic. Here’s the breakdown of each (wikkiwikki-breakdown. Sorry. Nerding out. Check after the jump):

Hey Folks!

Thanks for the visits – I know there are people out there reading this and that gets me really excited knowing that you’re taking the time to see what I’m typing ferociously out. Just wanted to get a few things out there so you know whatta gwanin’ with me + the site.

1. You’ll notice some changes – the focus is definitely mucho fashion, but I’ve started to integrate music, beauty, and overall style into the site. Like or dislike? Do share (and delurk yourself)

2. Speaking of music, Isle of Thieves is on bloc music right now, take it for a whirl. These guys have been getting some good press lately, including a mention on “My Living Room Radio Show TV” as part of Canadian Music Week, check here.

3. I’ve been hectic-busy! Although I skipped out on LG Fashion Week (hey, people get burned out), I’m making up for it by going to a few awesome events. One being an event at Delineation Hair&Skin Essentials tomorrow. Mm. Oh, and you’ll be hearing more about The White Tie Affair soontimes. You know it!

4. I’ve been on Twitter. So follow me – http://www.twitter.com/urbanebloc – promise I won’t talk too much about steamers.

5. See that banner? Still means you can win a CK ONE. One comment has the power to make you smell good, so click!

Okay that’s it for now, talk soon soon!

Khakis Swing Back Into Style

Heart Khaki

Remember those delightfully upbeat GAP khaki commercials from the late 90′s? (For a quick “swing” down memory lane, click) Well, it seems like every designer has jumped on the khaki-clad bandwagon once again this spring. My personal favourite: 3.1 Phillip Lim. Whether it’s a camel-coloured t-shirt dress, a casual sheath, an oversized cargo vest, or even a fitted pair of the always controversial jodhpurs, Phillip Lim unquestionably knows how to pull off khakis. A handful of pieces in eye-popping yellow and turquoise perfectly complement his collection’s otherwise neutral pallet. Fresh, preppy, and easy to mix-and-match… I think I’m in love.

For a few cute, khaki-inspired options that are a bit easier on the cash flow, try on a pair of Aeropostale’s skinny khaki capris ($20 USD), an adorable button-up founce skirt from American Eagle ($34 USD), or a cheap & cheerful yellow-striped tank top from Old Navy ($8 USD).
