My my this Earth Day business sure is getting mucho buzz. Rightfully so – it’s a great cause and Fashion never fails to take a stand. Fashion Takes Action is a members-based social enterprise whose mission is to impact the fashion industry in a socially and environmentally positive way. Best way to launch is April 22, day of Earth. Led by Kelly Drennan, FTA is sure to harness some great awareness around Fashion and sustainability (my favourite word of the last two years).
Looks like it’ll be a great event – …

I stepped outside today and two things immediately came to mind: 1) I suck for having to work on such a beautiful day (and I’m certain I’m not alone in this) and 2) Yay for sandals, flats, and cut-out booties! I don’t know about you, but personally, I’m dreading the day Uggs, Sorel boots, and thermal socks make their unwanted comeback. It’s about time my feet get some breathing room! And hey, what better way to celebrate this triumph than with some good ol’ Jeffrey Campbell footwear. They are super …

A little while ago I attended the gafas lookbook launch party at their 561 Queen St. W. location – great food, drinks, and I even managed to bump into my Conflict and Negotiation prof. The event was complete with a keyboard artist from Japan meshed with a mellow DJ to provide the soundtrack.
The boutique is located between Spadina and Bathurst on Queen – having resided there for about three years, the store has seen great success in its offering of fine eyewear. Musa, one of the partners in the store, …

Heyo – it’s the start of a new week and some fresh new content is in store. Here’s just a teaser for the week to come (wink wink. Don’t ask me to stop winking, I really can’t).
Check the video bumper that The White Tie Affair did for urbanebloc.com, Phone interview to follow!

Though I’m already completely content with my Usher sunglasses (aka sunglasses that Usher has worn), my latest obsession is keeping on top of eyewear trends. They’re a bit Lady GaGa-like, but when I saw the FONTANA sunglasses from American Apparel, I couldn’t stop repeating the word combination of “Hannah Fontana” in my head, nor can I get the image of the center tortoise ones out of my mind. Call me lame. Dare you.
Anyway, they’re an interesting shape – retro vs borderline weird. I’m pretty sure they’re unisex – so boys …

Friendly weeminder kiddies – Toronto Alternative Fashion Week is coming (it happens once a year), run by the very talented Vanja Vasic. It’s a collective of fashion / performance art / music that isn’t in the traditional packaged and refined delivery of Toronto Fashion Week (now LG Fashion Week). Oh and guess what – reappearance of designers from Mass Exodus is a promise, I’m so overtly excited.

Beauty, Incredible People »
A little while ago I hinted that I had met with the CEO of ~h2O+ skincare / cosmetics – I’m finally unveiling the story that I was privy to learning about early March. Cindy Melk is an incredible entrepreneur and amongst the most spirited businesswomen that I have ever met. The ~h2O+ brand was always present in my realm of beauty knowledge, but I had never gained any first hand experience with their products until recently. I have to say, my entire experience was one of being spoiled – from …

‘Scuse the awkward image above – but yes, your eyes aren’t telling you lies (face it – it happens, but now’s not the case). Doc Martens in pastel (with an arguably Ronald McDonald like shade) and floral are now available to you for solid pricing starting from $160. Funny thing is that the latest and greatest craze / style has brought back our old friend the Doc – no longer subject to just black, it’s in patent and all these other unimaginable shades.
Ready stark rockers?

Though it’s over like the new John Legend song that I’m obsessed with (it’s called It’s Over – please do check it), Ryerson Fashion Week / Ryerson Mass Exodus was an incredible show. Know that feeling where you see someone else perform / showcase their craft and it gives you goosebumps / shivers? Picture that occurring for a good hour and a half. Stunning. Svelt / lithe / perfect models showcased even more perfect pieces. Varying from potential Olympic wear to haute couture / abstract, the Ryerson Fashion Design students …

Boys and their bags. Well, while strolling (yes, I stroll not walk. Only boring folk walk) through the Bay I happened across this Ben Sherman bag that I thought was pretty hmm, how do you say….”neat-o”? Okay well end the nerdiness, I thought this was a great bag to combat the Jack Spade movement (though I’ve written about JS before, I’m guilty), there’s great value in the good ‘ol vint / classic goods.
Dudes, would you wear it?
