2014 Product Wish List
Oh hai there, twenty fourteen! It’s hard to believe that a new year is already upon us. I’m not one to make New Years’ resolutions as I have a tendency to fail miserably in keeping them within two weeks’ time (and believe me when I say “two weeks”, I’m being generous). Instead, I like to make a list of one new item I’d like to purchase for each month of the upcoming year. Here are 12 items that have caught my eye and I can’t wait to get my hands on before 2014 is over:
Nelle Han Jewelry
Toronto-based Nelle Han launched her jewelry line last month, designing pieces that are elegant, romantic and feminine. I love the artistic and playful nature of the entire collection and how all her pieces transition so well with an outfit from daytime to evening. The Ova Pendant is my favourite piece, with the Rose Studs coming in a close second.
Givenchy Teint Couture Foundation
I’m a huge supporter of BB cream, but after sampling Givenchy’s newest foundation at Sephora, I think I’m *gasp* ready to switch back. Teint Couture Long-Wearing Fluid Foundation is a long-lasting foundation that gives you buildable coverage without the heavy, cakey feeling. It feels silky and moisturizing and I was impressed with how well it blends, especially when coupled with concealer and setting powder.
The Mastery of Love: A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship
I haven’t read many self-help books, but this one came highly recommended to me by a close friend. don Miguel Ruiz’s book teaches you how to improve the relationships not only with the people in your life but, most importantly, how to improve the relationship you have with yourself.
Though I may still be riding off a New Years’ sequin high, I’m really digging the embellished look on more formal pieces. It gives a fun twist on something that’s typically very conservative. With that being said, I prefer embellishments that are more toned down so a blazer like this one from Maison Scotch is wearable on any day of the year, not just on New Years Eve.
I know it’s not the season just yet, but I need a new pair of fall boots like it’s nobody’s business. I love the classic look of these simple, over-the-knee suede boots by Charlotte Olympia (a girl can dream, right?). These are a very versatile style that would look great paired with leggings, skinny jeans or stockings.
Being pale my entire life, I’ve always wondered what I’d look like with a tan. Since tanning in the sun is not an option for me (I burn within approximately 2.7 seconds of sun exposure), I’m thinking sunless tanner is a viable option. I’m going to give St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse a try this year in a bid to look less like a vampire. If Kate Moss can use it and look like a bronzed Greek goddess, I’m fairly certain it will help eliminate my pastiness at least a little.
Even though I frequently curl my hair, I’m a tad ashamed to admit that I’ve never tried hot rollers. Hot rollers seem to be the way to go if you want to get instantly volumized, sexy red carpet curls. I’m interested to see if I’ll be able to get more body and a longer lasting style with these Remington T|Studio rollers than with the usual curling wand I like to use. Hmmm… future urbanebloc post? ;)
ADD Winter Coat
Can we please discuss how warm and comfy this ADD Down coat looks? I want and need one. I especially love the EAW012 style because it gives you all the warmth for those freezing Canadian winters without looking too bulky. ADD is known for making weightlessly warm coats that still look chic and tailored and this coat is no exception to the rule.
Currently readying myself to move into my own place, I’m really into these bright and colourful PANTONE mugs. I’m a huge tea and hot chocolate aficionado so these will be getting some serious usage at my new place. PANTONE has been setting the colour standards for the design and creative industries for years now – I guess my home is next!
Sea Salt Texture Spray
2014 is the year of the 60s. Ladies, get ready for big and messy hairdos. A saltwater spray is the ideal way to get textured, volumized locks so I’m going to pick up some Bumble and bumble. Surf Spray to get tousled, wavy hair that would make Brigitte Bardot proud.
Keeping up with the 60s theme, I’m hoping to pick up a pair of new retro shades, similar to these Stella McCartney ones. If I don’t end up splurging on a designer set, I’m confident I’ll be able to find a vintage set at a local thrift store.
Emi-Jay Hair Ties
I hate how traditional hair ties pull and dent my hair, so the fact that Emi-Jay hair ties are made from stretchy material and knotted to help prevent snags has put them on my wish list. As a bonus, these crystal bead hair ties also double as a bracelet – so pretty!
