If you’re like me, you probably learned that one, two or maybe six of your friends just got engaged over the holidays. While I look forward to vehicle debuts at North American auto shows, the newly-fiancé’d shift gears into full on nuptials. So it’s not wonder the majority of Canadian bridal shows happen in January.

I may not have “27 Dresses” but I have been involved in quite a few weddings and attended my share of bridal shows. My show routine includes – wearing comfortable shoes, carrying bag big enough to house a few too many flyers, business cards and a couple bottles of water to quench the bride-to-be, and the tenacity to pull her away when pushy vendors try to get her to commit for a “Show Exclusive” deal too early.

Wedding shows are a great resource for brides to learn about new trends, venues, and the countless number of choices for stationary to photographers, flowers to cake. Experts, planners and the thousands of fellow brides buzz around the booths creating a smorgasbord of ideas for your big day.

Kicking off the New Year was Canada’s Bridal Show, which took place this past weekend at The Metro Toronto Convention Center. Invited by one of my closest friends (who happens to be engaged to my brother), @urbanebloc and I ventured to the land of engagements and found ourselves ooh-ing and ahh-ing at dresses, posing in photobooths, noshing on cake, and stopping to smell the roses, calla lilies, and peonies that turned the convention center into a beautiful bridal bazaar.

Some of our favourite exhibitors include Snapz Photobooth, I Do! Wedding Cakes, Henkaa convertible dresses and the smooth sounds of Saturday Night Jive.

I suspect there will be many more shows we’ll be going to this month so stay tuned! I just hope someone reminds me not to eat so much cake.

Upcoming Bridal Shows:

January 20-22: The Total Wedding Show @ International Centre

January 27-29: National Bridal Show @ Direct Energy Centre
