As my favorite place to shop (or window shop depending on the funds situation) for pretty dresses for those rare, special occasions that require getting done up; BCBG is one of those stores I can spend hours in, just getting lost in a sea of beautiful dresses and fantasizing about what kind of career I can get into that would allow me to wear one everyday. And then I typically bring myself back down to reality and remember that only celebrities get such the luxury. So, you could say it’s quite fitting that the Designer Label’s Spring 2011 line was inspired by fame and society’s fascination with it and in particular, social media’s (ahem) incredible influence over it.

Extending this inspiration into the catalog (the theme is “a behind-the-scenes look”) this season’s collection is presented in a set of nicely put together dynamic photos that range from the dramatic (models laying in between giant sized magazine pages) to the more casual (models posing in front of a plain white backdrop). Sections are playfully titled “In focus” and “On the Scene”, and the lookbook organizes the looks for Spring based on some of the different daily activities in a celeb’s life, like “wardrobe fitting”, “screen test”, and “premiere night”.

As for the clothes themselves, I give BCBG 5 stars for their ability incorporate so many diverse chic looks into this one season. Highlights for me include the ultra feminine flower pattern dresses in neutral colors, and the sleek black evening gowns. Again, not so appropriate for my lifestyle – but if there’s ever the need for a stunning party dress that will make me stand out, and if my budget allows it, this is the store you’ll find me in.
