Boxing Day

Boxing Day

It saddens me to see people lining up at 5am outside a FutureShop or Best Buy on Boxing Day. I’ve taken notice of the fact that sales actually begin BEFORE Christmas, and not only that, but they always seem to be better on Christmas Eve than Boxing Day itself. Studies actually show this year that people are less likely to venture out for Boxing Day than ever before (clickety).

Why isn’t it worth it anymore? Retailers tend to bring all of those items that were unable to sell a year before back into the mix for a slightly reduced price. Not only that, but sometimes when things don’t sell after the first week of Boxing Week, they go on deeper discount, so if you purchased it on Boxing Day you’d really actually still get ripped off. But that doesn’t stop us from trying to find a steal.

Shop wise kiddies, and don’t throw any fists while waiting in line, as tempting as it seems.

Post-Boxing Day Madness:

I had a jacket snatched from my hands, and my ipod earbuds caught on some hideous purse by a girl with an awful personality while in a popular girl’s store. There was security perched everywhere on ladders taking pictures. Coach had a lineup from one end of a corridor to another. There were some decent deals but I wasn’t willing to line up at all for many of them. The greatest deals I found were at Old Navy, where they gave out free portable ipod speakers and sold countless shirts for $10.00 CAD or 50% off.

What was your Boxing Day find?
