So even though we just got a fresh dumping of snow here in Toronto, we can start look forward to fresh and bright colours accompanying the warm weather ahead. Last summer plaids and bright madras started sneaking into our closets but this summer there will be a complete takeover. Expect to start seeing lads dressed as members of the Socs from The Outsiders.
Not only are they light and breathable but brightly coloured madras button downs look great in warm sunny weather when paired with a navy blazer and jeans or khakis. An example pictured above is a Fred Perry button down paired with a Sand blazer (a great Danish brand). My personal favourite is going a tone down and using the colourful patterns as accents either in the form of a pocket square or neck tie. The line of Gitman Bros. ties, pictured above, provide a sure fire way to stand out in a conservative crowd.
Like the bright plaid patterns but not sure where to start? Stroll over to your local Harry Rosen for these madras items plus many more for Spring and Summer 2010.
Oh no !!
Sometimes, we say in France “too much fashion kills fashion”. And that’s the point (maybe clothes for going in holidays in some caribean islands ? )
That’s funny, I am reading this blog since almost one year and never a post makes me react like that. The chekered shirt must be a typically canadian way of wear, I can understand even if I don’t like, but with plaid tie on it : OOOHHHH!!
Sorry you are not a fan of the shirt. My suggestion was not to pair the shirt and tie together, but rather if you preferred something more subtle using the tie or a similar pocket square as an accent. Whether its France or Canada pairing plaid with plaid is overkill.
Don’t be sorry ! I apologize for my comment : I over reacted.
You’re right, just a touch with madras can be fresh ;-)
