I’m always impressed when a designer can balance luxurious details, like ruffles and feathers, with practicality, which probably explains why I’m so smitten with the Brose SS11 collection.
With a resume that includes stints at Chloe and Pink Tartan, I’m not surprised that designer Marika Brose has put together a wearable but chic line for the spring. The collection builds on a base of basic shapes and neutral colours by adding studs, crystals and exotic feathers, but the pieces are understated enough to wear to a semi-dressy night out. Among my favourite looks: the skinny black pant paired with a pop-collared jacket and the black rooster-feather tutu which, surprisingly, does not look too over-the-top.
If I actually used phrases like “I die,” (sorry Rachel Zoe), it would be because of Brose’s insanely amazing ostrich feather dress (pictured above). With just the right amount of volume (up top, where us girls always want it!), the dress looks soft, flattering and sexy.
Though the pieces are a little on the pricy side (most range from $300 – $800), it’s worth it for these items that can be worn multiple ways, like with a jacket or tights.
