Cookies and Champagne #hugcookies

Posted by Gloria Chik on December 7th, 2011 - Leave a Comment

Myself and Maria went to the Distillery District art gallery for a lovely little soiree by Hip Urban Girl (HUG) – twas my first of its kind. It was a Cookies and Champagne concept, where ladies would create beautiful works of art (edible of course) and swap cookie styles with one another to take home and enjoy. Naturally, Maria and I were pressed on time so we wandered and admired, as well as took a look at some of the stellar vendors that were showcasing their wares at the event.

Chobani Yogurt (delicious by the way – try the black cherry flavour), Barefoot Wine (and Bubbly) and Olympus were all sponsors of the event. Impressive turnout and tasty treats that we walked away with. Thanks HUG for the invite – always a pleasure.

Among my favourites – I’m a sucker for these decorated delights. And what vintage edible decor – silver balls and candy flakes.

This was actually a facial scrub. All natural – and smelled pretty delight too.

Something that Williams-Sonoma would probably be proud to carry (for a healthy cost too). I’m a sucker for “pretty cupcakes”.

Unique jewelry on display at the event. Kitschy and kind of perfect.

Feminine flasks. Good idea – an even better idea for the Holidays (I’ve got some thoughts around who to get these for!)

A great (and flashy) little ring number that I walked away with. Enjoying the feathers, great touch. Vintage and a bit nautical (just a tinge)

Barbie Loves Joe Fresh

Is it just me or are there any other gals out there that get nostalgic everytime there’s a new fashion collaboration with Barbie?  This (kind of) newest one really does it for me – Barbie is back at Joe Fresh again this year, but this time, instead of apparel, it’s all about the cosmetics.

This year’s “Barbie Loves Joe Fresh” line features a variety of beauty products including nail polish, nail files, makeup bags, and lipbalm, all so pink and playful that they would make any Barbie fan, young or old, giddy.  Prices range from $4 – $12, so show Barbie some love back and grab these goodies at any Joe Fresh store – they’ll only be around for a limited time!

Q&A with crywolf clothing

I came across crywolf clothing at a habitual visit to The Clothing Show. Not long after did I start to see their items everywhere – pieces of hilarity that sprinkled Toronto fashion boutiques and brought more than a little sunshine to my heart. Every time I spot something distinctively crywolf, I’m drawn. The line by Stephanie Drabik and Rose Chang started with a little printing in 2005, under the name p0isson. It’s since become so much more than just a few kitschy prints…but a collective of wonderful, whimsy, satire, and sass.
