CLOT founded by Edison Chen and Kevin Poon, is a lifestyle company that emerged in Hong Kong in 2003. Their aim is to be a lifestyle company through fashion (CLOT Apparel), Music & Artist Management (CLOT Media Division), Retail (Juice/ACU), Design, Consulting and PR (CLOT PR). Clot’s aim is to push the creativity limit of youths in Asia and bridge the gap between Eastern and Western cultures. Having established a large name in the Asian street fashion scene, they’ve collaborated with street brands such as Bape, Visvim, Fragment, Kaws, Headporter, …

If you’re still stuck on the title, baffled by how a clothing line can name something in such a complicated manner, feel at ease with the fact that it actually happens to be a great offering. Gytha (a gift) Mander (from me), struck me as too odd to be true, modeling its logo after a 4-legged insect and models styled in a dark and timely fashion. Trust me, after getting over the pre-judging, you’ll marvel at the classic make and the twist of contemporary that Gytha Mander presents.
A little More:
Gytha …

Here’s a new denim line that I instantly clicked with: Bread Denim. It’s not quite your Antik or Acne, but it’s name is definitely representative of its style. Classic.
The fit and cut looks to be a fairly wide range - from slim fit to relaxed and casual, Bread Denim is targeted at the young and urban. Positioned as a premium yet ‘down-to-earth’ denim line, Bread Denim is the boy that found his way into Hollywood, or the wholesome girl looking for something new. ‘Scuse my seemingly aimless metaphoric prose.

So everyone’s been ranting lately about the leggings trend - how they’re not a supplement for real pants. But as much as I agree with that perspective, leggings are evolving more and more into the anti-jean, comfortable trend.
But to a certain degree, some leggings are just getting too elaborate, spandex-y, and shiny. One hot up and comer is Lisa Kline with her LNA leggings line (strangely like Canada’s TNA from Aritzia wouldn’t you say?). This designer has chosen to capitalize on the tights-as-pants fad with adornments such as zippers and …

Vena Cava is my recent find - I’m loving the strangely European infused, fun-loving line. Why can’t more brands encompass fashions that boast quality and originality all in the same?
Straight from harnessing talent at Parsons, The New School, for fashion, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai have refined their Californian tastes into New York Sophistication. The brand was born in 2003, and is inspired heavily by fine art, culture, and Retro flavour. Their line has received attention from international press, and is sure to be a growing force in affordable, great …

Word. Nothing like cackling over some ludicrous fashion trend line, where every piece in the line is a mash-up of confusion and pattern, and appropriated obscure and not-so-obscure urban phrases / references.
Official Tourist brings a whole new meaning to cheesy - with a website enhanced by silver chains and gold lettering, the old school graphic car with its trunk popped open is only an afterthought.
Dressed as a gangster’s haven, the Official Tourist website displays prominently each of their “hoodie” products (they’re literally just…hoods). With favourites like “Brown Bunny” and “Big …

Everyone knows how I typically feel about celebrity lines - I usually find them a shameless self-promotion with no heed paid towards fabrication or design. But hey, there’s always an acception.
And who better to forgive than our beloved NSYNC* star Justin Timberlake. Blame it on nostalgia or oversight, but I spent a good 30 minutes perusing the official William Rast website and Youtube, gathering information on the increasingly popular apparel line. Named after the friendship of their grandparents, Justin Timberlake and fellow childhood Memphis buddy Trace Ayala started the line …

I’ve always regarded this brand as a fabulously innovative one - I adore the play with colour, the wonderfully playful clothing (without being tacky), and how the designer can truly showcase her versatility in not only creating pieces for heavy casual wear, but also a range which includes transitional clothing from day to night.
While I’ve never been a fan of the fabricated label names (meaning alice & olivia is really neither alice or olivia, but rather just Stacey Bendet, a trained business woman), I really love the personality and …

Why must so many designers adopt fashion label names that have nothing to do with their actual names? Elizabeth & James has been created to mask the twin designers, the Olsen Twins. You’d think that with their iconic fashion stylings and heavy weight fame, they would come up with something trendier than a whole thwart of garish pieces for their Fall ‘08 line. I feel somewhat moved by their ‘high end’ line, The Row. The Row projects an embarrassingly bland style…contrastingly, Elizabeth & James is just so outlandish that …

Japan has always been a major player in fashion ever since the trio of Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo, and Issey Miyake made tidal waves with their avant-garde aesthetic in the 80’s. The big 3 broke conventional norms and introduced a new type of creativity that put Japan on the fashion map. In the early 2000’s we saw the uprising of Undercover and Number (N)ine, two street wear oriented labels who have cultivated a unique presence on the runway. Now, most recently, two menswear labels will soon join …
