If I had the creativity to design clothing, the essence would hopefully resemble this beautiful line designed by Daniel and Carla Hogg. The collection is an assortment of basic jersey tees, cardigans, and shift dresses. The vibe of the season through ‘fawning’ eyes is equal parts ethereal as it is edgy and rugged.
The entire collection is incredibly ready-to-wear and functional. There are no surprises, but its beauty is in the details, seen in the use of studs, chains, and fringe. The soft colour palette in combination with the hardware creates …

After their spring/summer collection of perfect trenches, FURI has stepped-up their outwear game for the fall with a line of tailored coats and chic capes.
The collection of coats, jackets and caplets is made from rich winter-y fabrics like herringbone and lambswool and comes in warm colours like plum, charcoal and deep blue. These Montreal designers also pay special attention to detail for all of their pieces, like using Italian Corzo buttons & snaps and lining all of their pieces for extra warmth. (Whoever said you had to sacrifice design for …

Whenever I see a person dressed in the exact same thing I’m wearing, I always feel as if the authenticity of my outfit has been somewhat compromised. No longer is my outfit new and fresh, but it’s just another skirt worn by a hundred other girls. I was introduced to vintage shopping by a good friend when we spent the whole day in and out of Toronto stores looking for that perfect outfit. After returned to my university, I frantically googled stores in Ottawa only to realize that my beloved …

Are you looking for the oh-so-trendy jumpsuits? Or cute summer dresses that you can wear from the patio to the cocktail party? Look no further than Snoflake, a contemporary women’s boutique line. With her Spring/Summer 2010 collection, Debbie Sutton, the Toronto-based designer, has effortlessly shown her ability to blend the edgy with the classy without compromising quality and style.
My favourite is the Holly Go Lightly dress. I have no doubts that the multi-colour crescent print would glimmer under the hot summer sun. And the length? Well, let’s just say it’s …

For those looking to take their wardrobe from “gloom” to “bloom” (haha, very funny spring-time pun!), look no further than Canadian designer Stacy Zhang. Her S/S 2010 collection speaks to the casual girly-girl, with frilly skirts, bright hues (think lavenders and sky blues), and cozy wrap sweaters. With both short and long hemlines, this collection is perfect for both flirty girls and those who are a bit more modest.
If you don’t have the good fortune of living in Montreal and shopping at Zhang’s flagship Montreal boutique, don’t fret. Her gorgeous …
CONTESTS, Canadian Fashion, For a Cause »
It’s been heavy on the Rethink Breast Cancer mention, but worthy of it. Joe Fresh has launched a campaign in support of the cause, a contest where you submit how you wear their signature tee for 10 chances to win a sweet trip to Toronto (well, Fashion Week) and a $500 gift card. Get to snapping. Snap snap.

Katrina Tuttle was one of my favourite showcases from the last season (see blog post here). For Fall/Winter 2010, Katrina’s line is less pleats and more vintage inspired textures. It’s a pretty collection with a little less of the ordinary. See after the jump for the Q&A that I had with this young designer.

H&M held a relaunch event for their newly renovated Toronto Eaton Centre location. It was a red-carpet-special-lighting-dj-booth-bubbly-catering type of event, one complete with a 25% off everything discount. Great forum to see some familiar (including faces – hello Ajani, Joan, and Candice) alongside new. The space has been posh-ed out, with a cleaner layout and flow of clothing. Being a flagship store (one that houses those beloved designer capsule collections), it was a well designated investment. Thanks for the invite H&M – I finally picked up a great denim jacket!

What’s better than being on the run with your man (excuse me: “significant other”, “pooh-bear”, “baby-love”)? Being on the run with your man while looking hotter than hot!
You must remember Label from my Q & A with the super-lovely and talented Shawna Robinson, one half of Toronto’s fashion forward, enviro-chic line LABEL. Well, it’s time for sun and with that comes the unveiling of LABEL’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection—complete with story (fun!!).
Inspired by epic crime dramas, LABEL’s new campaign has us on “the lam” with a beautiful couple running from “the …
