Part fashion and part lifestyle. I just wanted to let you folks know about something that’s gotten me all wired up - Crystal Castles (great nouveau music-style duo from Toronto, comprised of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass) is playing at Harbourfront Centre for FREE. Here are the deets:

Listening to this stuff makes me so nostalgic, I remember hopping on a bus at 6am to make it to the morning shift, playing …

They say never to wear white after Labour Day. I say, abuse this rule while you can, and adorn yourself in that flowing, angelic shade.
And that’s exactly what FASHION Magazine did on one gloriously bright Saturday afternoon. Gathering a flock of all types (models, FASHION Editors, and just plain pretty people), the Flash Mob hit Yonge and Dundas Square Downtown Toronto to create a spectacle. With crisp white lanterns hung from above and a bevy of calm statuesque subjects, the event generated an incredible and artistic presence.

No one brings it like the French do - noujica noujica is a shining example of up and coming innovation and style, with their take on fashion and accessories. I encountered this charismatic pair (Catherine and Jinny) at The Clothing Show early May, and was smitten with their image-rich and stunning lookbook showcasing their items. With creations such as hand-blown glass jewelry, original screen-printed neck wraps (adorned with buttons and sophisticated design), noujica noujica mixes the craft with character. Check out the Q&A with these designers after the jump.

What does it mean to be a goodboy or a goodgirl? Entrenched in the urban hiphop culture that thrives in the City of Toronto, goodboy clothing seeks to represent sustainability and depth that the city has been searching for. I first came across these guys at the manifesTO event back in September. Their booth and their mantra represented a fresh urban perspective that I haven’t seen for awhile.

Stussy, the granddaddy of all street wear is finally opening its doors right here in Toronto. Matt George, owner of the GoodFoot camp is set to open Stussy’s first Canadian store downtown. For those who are enthralled in the street wear scene, this is indeed a momentous event. Forget Supreme, forget ALIFE, and forget BAPE and all these new kiddies trying to latch onto the market. Stussy as the tried and true champ has been putting out awesome clothes for the past 27 years, outliving other …

There’s nothing like a little patriotism - especially when it comes to fashion. ION Magazine raises from the second fashion capital of our lovely-richinnaturalresources-country, Vancouver. I was randomly cleaning my room today after much procrastination, and I dug out this bursting-with-colour-and-energy magazine.
What I love about it? That it’s free and still rocks the ‘underground’ theme (unlike the ever-familiar NYLON Magazine). The advertisements are from fairly unknown and likeable brands, and the content pertains to Indie music culture and other Canadian talent. Coverage on culture, fashion, film, music, and a comprehensive …

Mathieu Missiaen epitomizes urban art, and doodling talent in his brand NDEUR. First gaining international recognition out of Toronto, the Parisian originally teamed up with THE RAGE in Kensington Market (blogged about earlier) to create something genuine and new with his keen artistic eye. His creations include intricate street-style drawings on vintage women’s heels, sneakers, and virtually any flat surface. Rather than read the buzzwords that I’m throwing around, hear and see from himself after the jump.

Kensington Market is one my favourite spots in Toronto to peruse on a Saturday afternoon. Upon one of these treks, I came across the owner of “The Rage”, Sarah Campbell, and saw this as a great opportunity to let her spill her take on fashion.

I love Natasha Khan’s style - it seems to be a mix of eighties-exotic, a dash of spiritual, and the sass of Brit-Victorian. It’s so eclectic and elaborate, not to mention that I love the eerie music that Bat for Lashes produces. Raised in Pakistan and England Khan mixes and mingles style in her music and wardrobe selections.
