A Visit to @titika_active

Posted by Gloria on April 18th, 2012 - 3 Comments

Had the opportunity to stop by Titika Activewear thanks to homefry Ajani Charles, photographer and social media man extraordinaire. Unbeknownst to me, the Titika boutique closest to me happened to be at the lovely Shops on Don Mills, one of my favourite plaza destinations uptown Toronto. More on this beautiful activewear collection after the jump. And remember – no Lemons here.

Determined, yet confused, lost but centered. Today’s 20-something woman is a myriad of all these polarizing characteristics. Travis Taddeo encapsulated this angst perfectly in a collection entitled “Doomed Generation”. The inspiration of the collection was the atomic bomb, so naturally the colour palette was full of smoky greys, whites and fiery reds. The styling was simply gorgeous, the random backpack thrown over the shoulder of a chic dress truly demonstrated how complex the women of my generation are. We want to be free spirits, but we want to grow up and it’s a daily struggle to figure it out. The models were some of the best I’ve seen all week and the Fashion Collective did a great job casting. Overall this was my favourite show and I felt like it was a collection that we could really show off to the world on a global stage, and after all isn’t that what this week was all about?

#WMCFW Rudsak F/W 2012

Fur and leather are the quintessential sexy fabrics, but when it comes to outerwear, there’s always been a bit of a disconnect. Rudsak however, nails it every time. The usual clean utilitarian looks strolled out on the backs of the male models, and form fitting sexy silhouettes hugged the curves of the female models.

It was the fur however (oh the fur!!), that made me drool. Being Canadian, it seems more so than in past years that Canada has become the king of winter wear and fur trimmed hoods, but no one does it with quite the sophistication of Rudsak.

I was lucky enough to be invited backstage to speak with Evik Asatoorian and ask him a few questions, and just like his line, he was so very charming in a sexy and polished way.

Chloe Comme Parris F/W 2012 #WMCFW

Beautiful Badass – that was the name of the show and the ladies of Chloe Comme Parris definitely delivered. Very Goth, a bit grunge, totally reminiscent of 90’s chic (that’s what this reminded me of) this’ll be a great look for any angst-ridden-boho-beauties come Fall.

One such badass decided “eff-it” to fashion, in favour of comfort and abandoned her shoes halfway down the runway.  Love when fashion gets real!
