Hey Hey - it’s the weekend. That calls for hitting the streets, hitting the malls, and fighting with desperate girls for clothing that you probably don’t need or necessarily want. Well, I speak for myself.
The Olympics are on, but what better to watch than the renegade sport of…mall shopping.
Oh. By the by. Aritzia’s Snooze You Lose Sale is on. I don’t usually find anything that I wear more than a fistful of times when I get something on sale there, but it’s worth a shot.

Our beloved Torontonian Ed Mirvish passed away not too long ago, but he leaves a great legacy. Not Mirvish Productions you fool, HONEST ED’S! I can still recall my sporadic trips downtown to visit the grand Bargain Harold’s style retailer. I honestly think there wasn’t another place in Toronto that sold $2.00 ill-fitting floral patterned shorts.
So, what’s the big scoop here that I’m about to divulge? The fact that I just found out Honest Ed’s is having a 60th anniversary, and there is a “ready-to-wear” fashion show involved. Take a …

They say never to wear white after Labour Day. I say, abuse this rule while you can, and adorn yourself in that flowing, angelic shade.
And that’s exactly what FASHION Magazine did on one gloriously bright Saturday afternoon. Gathering a flock of all types (models, FASHION Editors, and just plain pretty people), the Flash Mob hit Yonge and Dundas Square Downtown Toronto to create a spectacle. With crisp white lanterns hung from above and a bevy of calm statuesque subjects, the event generated an incredible and artistic presence.
Check out some coverage …

In partnership with L’Oreal, luminaTO brings culture and art to the streets of Toronto. There’s an eclectic mix of events and exhibits, at varying price points (some at no price). I think it’s fantastic what the City of Toronto has invested into promoting a diverse yet unique culture throughout the city, supporting huge events such as luminaTO, L’Oreal Fashion Week, manifesTO and Doors Open Toronto, to name a few.
The inaugural festival attracted over one million participants to over 100 events, including 10 world premieres, and 3 Canadian premieres. Luminato’s program …

The Clothing Show (Toronto) took place May 2 - 4, 2008 with over 300 booths and a huge variety of fashion and artisan retailers. This was the first run that I had gone to, and I was somewhat surprised at what I found.
For one, the traffic in the Better Living Centre definitely wasn’t as high as I thought it would be - despite their heavy advertising virtually everywhere. The clothing exhibitors included vintage, random non-clothing related retailers (ex. Hair extension retailers?), and very specialized clothing. What did I manage to …

It’s just around the corner! Nathan Phillips Square is about to be filled with more fashionistas per square foot than anywhere else in Toronto. With exciting shows from Evan Biddell (Project Runway Canada Winner), Lucian Matis, and Rudsak all packed into five eventful days, it’s surely a fashion spectacle not to be missed. Strolling past the site earlier this weekend, you can already sense the excitement in the air, as the tent is already prominently setup with the event plastered on the front in bold letters.
