The little black dress, or LBD, is a closet staple. Just look at the gorgeous Sheena from The Uniform Project to see it’s versatility. For the fashion forward who read this blog, I know I’m preaching to the choir. Still, I couldn’t resist writing an ode to my fashion ‘bread and butter’ (sorry for the cliches, can’t be helped).

For as long as I can remember, the LBD and I have been very close. We have gone to parties, to work, to the bar, and even to meet ‘the parents’. It should really come as no surprise to …

This jacket is on the must-have list. Which is looking pretty short right now, but still in the midst of being built for fall. Have you seen? Soia and Kyo and related company Mackage have at long last updated their websites with all their clothing candy – jump on the pages now and sift through the amazing assortment of jackets. This version “Pink” has detachable down cuffs and neck collar. Comes in heather grey and black/charcoal. Amazing.

Lately I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the likes of ApartmentTherapy.com and hurriedly flipping through furniture catalogues. And so nothing quite gets me as internally riled up about  great new accessories or stylish items for the home. LEXON’s bamboo accessory line has made me more than happy to marvel. It’s a semi-new (okay, a little old because I took so long to post about it) line that boasts usage of renewable powered energy and corn bio-plastic with bamboo trim. Would you, would you? Any favourites?

Looking to purchase some art but don’t want to spend a lot of dough? Then check out 20×200.

Jen Bekman opened her gallery on the Lower East Side of NYC with the mission of supporting emerging artists and collectors. Taking her mission online she created 20×200 which operates under the simple formula of: (limited editions x low prices) + the internet = art for everyone.

Every week at least two new pieces of art are released. For each piece, limited edition reprints are available for purchase with at least 200 copies in …

I’m feeling nice and guilty in watching this and enjoying it – but it’s one of those mini reminders that even trashy / poor quality clothing can seduce you through the art of merchandising. I adore. Shamelessly, I’ve been on the hunt for questionably great pieces from my local Urban Planet Outlet. Don’t judge too much, I hear it gives you wrinkles and impaired fashion sense.

Nouveau Riche Colors is a new shirt design company out of Montreal. If you dig that whole high end tee shirt thing than you will probably want to check them out. They specialize in “limited quantities using high quality materials” and they also put together some hand crafted pieces. We at Urbanebloc got a sneak peek at the summer 2010 line and I have to say the whole 1930’s print ad style is kind of cool. Unfortunately they are so fresh that they aren’t online yet so if you really …

Are you an espresso mad individual like myself who spurns drip coffee for that beautiful tar shot?  I bet that you’ve been searching endlessly for some designer porcelain to house your favourite morning beverage.  Well search no more.  Illy celebrates a famous artist each and every year by releasing a six cup limited edition collection in their honour.  The latest espresso cup set celebrates the fantastic Spanish director Pedro Almodovar and many of his great films.  My favourite cup in the set has to be the Volver cup featuring the …

Don’t you dare let your imagination run wild with the title – Kid Robot’s playing with plush as they offer up the Pocket Wee Ninja Plush (4 inch ninja). Why wouldn’t you pay ten dollars for four inches (no, no…don’t go there)?

Standing at 4-inches tall this pint-sized ninja is a master of the stealth hug, sneak snuggle and nubs of tickle fury.

Love.

While bustiers are all the rage right now in low-range retailers across the nation, I would never think that a hybrid would be a byproduct of this trend. Introducing, the Bustier Cardigan (unless this unusual apparel has been around longer than I care to know). In my periodic shuffle through online shopping sites, I came across this one from Forever 21 and felt the need to go out of my way to applaud this stare-worthy sweater. Hilarious, or just bad news? If you look at the one on the model …

Can’t…stop…yelling. But at least it’s hands free. Thanks to Chris I’m the proud owner of this hands free car-clipped blue tooth speakerphone, so I no longer have to fumble while driving or…just not answer for hours. And makes for a lot of: “Hey that girl’s crazy she keeps talking to the sky, freak”.

A product of late-night Wal-Mart visiting from holiday season, this wicked device makes for the perfect addition to the Fashion Tech Section of urbanebloc.com (yeah yeah, always thinking content). For under $80.00, this was an easy-install (literally clip-pair-use). …
