Metro Pop Magazine was a bit of a mystery to me - I went to Chapters with the intention of finding another copy of Lula Magazine (which, since I’ve reported, has never surfaced on a bookshelf again for me), but came out with a copy of Z!nk Magazine and Metro Pop, totalling about $12.50 altogether.
My main motivator for buying Metro Pop was that it was sealed with a mysterious gift contained inside the pages. From my endless efforts to tilt and see what it was inside, I determined it was …

IKEA, you’ll love me for this.
Because I love you for this. The Grundtal has changed my life in that it’s no longer a disarray - rather than callously chucking my clothing on the floor and never again making eye contact with it, you’ve forced me to hang things up neatly.
ATTN: Fashionistas. Get one, it’ll make you sane.
That’s all!

My latest discover has been fredflare.com, and from that emerges this darling Paul Frank log backpack, complete with a miniature plush ax. Wear with your favourite flannel to complete the lumberjack look for fall.
If I didn’t look like a complete idiot, I’d sport it. Anddd..you?

A little while back I was contacted to join along 75 other bloggers across Canada on a program to promote o.b. carrying cases, and the o.b. tamp product - tiny, creates less waste, and comes in a damn cute carrying case (which sold me already). Although I’ve been walking around with about 5 in my bag in a very indiscreet way (which are disappearing perpetually from handing them out) - they can be discreet for your use.

I’ve always had a disdain for things from Guess and things from Marciano, but after being inspired by seeing someone’s corset and tiered dress (yeah, nothing something I typically like), I decided to check out their website.
Enter “Enchantress Ruffle Dress“. The name is pretty generic and the colour description is even more random (”Ponderosa Purple”. Riiiight), but the dress itself is something to gift a second glance.
Marciano, anyone?
Ps: Say yes yes yes to purple.

So I shouldn’t be taking fashion advice from a 15 year old pop star, but I really loved the ruffle top that Miley Cyrus donned in some random photo that I spotted online. I’ve never given much thought to the combination of something as feminine and delicate as ruffles, and the idea of burly-lumberjack inspired plaid wear, but something about it makes it work for Fall ‘08.
Some good options (pictured above):
Victoria Secret - Ruffle Front Shirt in Plaid
Nordstrom - Fire Ruffle Plaid Top (tunic style)
Kimchi & Blue - Ruffle Blouse

If you’re a hardcore Torontonian (that can’t help but complain about the city on an ongoing basis, but still love it), then you’ll know what kind of relationship we have with the transit here. This past Friday some orange friends and I hung out at the Distillery District. While for the most part the boutiques there weigh in at the hefty price-tag end of the scale, we managed to happen across distill gallery and I purchased a resin-based bracelet with subway stations etched into it, by the artist Leslie Jones. …

If you ever dreamed about having an element of Kurt Cobain on your feet, well now you have that option. Converse has launched a Kurt Cobain edition of Chuck Taylors which have the artist’s writings and blatherings all in a nice black and white form. Grab them for $50.00-ish in low or hightop form.

If you’re not into huge clunky splashers like the cult-favourite, Hunter rainboots, then Hunter’s got something else in store for you. Taking on an equestrian-style boot, the Festival Tall Boot is the brand’s answer to fashionistas everywhere. If you were nervous about taking the plunge, now’s a better time than any with these functional yet stylish boots (though retailing at $149-ish for heavy-set boots might make you a tad on edge). Check them out here.

Anyone remember those jeans that were actually sweatpants back in the early 2000’s? Anyone? Remember how they were sold with the likes of Mavi’s, Guido & Mary, and Parasuco?
If not, well lucky for you you can catch the second wave of the “what-you-see-is-not-what-you-get” trend. Highlighted above are some of my favourites - feel free to share your finds too.
