Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but the love doesn’t have to end there! Converse has teamed up with Robert Indiana (famous for his “LOVE” sculptures around the world) to produce the Chuck Taylor All Star Pop Art Collection. Inspired by Indiana’s iconic sculpture, these shoes are sure to capture hearts with their bold colours and classic design.
For aspiring shoe artists, Converse & The Global Fund have come together to create Converse (PRODUCT) RED LOVE shoes. Designed to help fight AIDS in Africa, these shoes invite everyone to express …

Over two dozen like-minded friends in the independent arts community have banded together to create a downloadable collective in support of Haiti. Donations go straight to Médecins Sans Frontières (aka Doctors Without Borders), to help with their work towards the earthquake. Their words:
Featuring a who’s who of award winning artists, the project brings together Juno Award Winners (and losers), U of T Art Professors, Underground Hip Hoppers, Latin Jazzers, Pop and Electronica Darlings, as well as Vanguards of Illustration, Animation and Photography. It’s an eclectic mix of “creative” types who …

There’s nothing I love more than when Fashion and Charity collide for a good cause. Case in point: Jimmy Choo and the Elton John AIDS Foundation, who have partnered up to launch Project PEP, a charity collection that donates 25% of sales to the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa. Supporting the launch is a social media campaign featuring an online photo competition with the theme “You, Your Shoes and 72″, which Jimmy Choo Founder, Tamara Mellon calls “a fun, light-hearted way to make people aware of a very serious …

Che Kothari is the force behind MANIFESTO Festival, our partner for the second THE PEEK event. When he sent out a note about supporting this cause, I was all up for it – more art in the city, how can we deny?
BeautifulCity.ca is a site devoted to a cause – to pass a new tax on billboard advertisers to fund enforcement and arts initiatives across the city (in this case, Toronto). Here’s how you can take action:
1 – Call and write your councillor. Let them know that the revenue should …

Nine West and Goodwill pair up (heh…heh…get it…cause they’re shoes? Nevermind) to offer women an opportunity to give back using their good soles (lots of play on the word ’sole’, I’m noticing lately). For three weeks Canadian women are being asked to bring in their preloved loves (including shoes, boots, OR handbags) to Nine West, Easy Spirit, Nine West Shoe Studio, or Madison Shoes & Accessories, for $20 off any purchase over $100. Have a little one? Bring in their shoes and boots too, it’s the same deal.

Familiar names galore, paired with a great venue and even greater cause. The R4 Fashion Event groups together up and comers in local Toronto Fashion, to promote eco-fashion lines (that surely don’t leave style behind). Names like TFI (Toronto Fashion Incubator), Kelly Drennan (Fashion Takes Action – I was introduced to the concept by miss Ada), Gail McInnes (The Style Box), Candice Batista (ecocandy on Twitter), the F List, and of course, Waterloo – are a sure pull.

This last post concludes the bevy of posts surrounding LG Fashion Week (time to move into the other greatness that is sporadic posting). The Dare To Wear Love show was the week’s star studded (funny term) closer. Stars spelled out to be Jessi Cruickshank (who part hilariously part obnoxiously put on an entertaining show), Jully Black, Monika Schnarre, Stacey McKenzie and Traci Melchor. I was lucky to snatch a seat up (actually, two but had someone flake out on me) for this hot ticket event (again, funny term), as reaffirmed …

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and for the fourth consecutive year, GUESS Watches/GUESS Inc. has teamed up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to present the Sparkling Pink timepiece to support the fight against this disease.
This year, 20% from the sale of each watch will be donated to the cause.
With just the right amount of shine, the watch features an understated pink crystal ribbon at the six o’clock mark, crystals around the bezel, and a chic stainless steel bracelet. There is nothing better than fashion with a purpose.
