While I have mixed feelings about method products themselves (love the aesthetic, love the premise), while jumping on their blog I found this great do-it-yourself bit on eco-friendly, hipster scarves. A stringy wonder bunched at the neck, these scarves make for a great accessory and are beyond easy to create. A little spaghetti like and a little unconventional, but plenty original. The steps below.

A stringy wonder bunched at the neck, these scarves make for a great accessory and are beyond easy to create. A little spaghetti like and a little unconventional, but plenty original. The steps below.

1. grab some cotton t-shirts you don’t wear anymore. larger sizes tend to work better as do non-ribbed shirts with no side seams. small logos on the shirts work fine, too.
2. grab a pair of fabric scissors if you have them, otherwise any scissors will do.
3. lay the shirt out on a flat table in front of you.
4. cut the hem off the bottom and put it aside.
5. cut the shirt into 1-1 1/2 ” horizontal strips all the way up to the armpit.
6. grab 3-4 shirt strips in both hands, and gently stretch them out. the strips will naturally curl into themselves.
7. once you have done this with many of the strips, it is time to get creative. try draping them, wrapping one end with excess fabric, combining colors, braiding them, attaching beads, pins, old jewelry, etc.

How to be a Mountie:

Visit Value Village and pick up a ranger hat and red Chinese jacket (I know this much from the “Dynasty” label). Colour buttons black. $14.
Go in search for a horse on a stick. By stroke of luck, he might just happen to be the last one perched randomly on a platform at Zellers. If the label looks old, ask for a price check. Thanks for the messages inviting me out tonight, this one’s going to be one in to get over this sickness / sleeping in / craziness, and get back to my robot self by Monday. I was at the glu mobile party on Thursday, my favourite costume was Lego man (I’ll dig up a photo).

See you guys this weekend if you’re out!

Eyewear has taken on a whole new dimension – year by year I’m noticing increasingly edgy frames, it seems to be changing even more quickly than our clothing trends.
Trying on sunglasses and regular frames is some sort of personal experience – certain shapes, sizes, and even angles are something to be duely noted. Not just that, but glasses are a huge commitment.

A question you may have for me is probably why I even care about them, seeing as I never needed them. I have an interest in frames that have unique characteristics like horn-rims or top-heavy frames as pictured (where it seems like the person has massive eyebrows [insert snickering]).

The Fashion Spot breaks down the trend pretty well, lookie here.
