Issue number 2 of one of the edgiest and most avant-garde mags to come about in a long time, PUSH IT, is an ode to the privacy of yesteryear (read: 2-3 years ago), dedicated to those of us who still make an effort to “fight for our right to [fill in the blank]”: the DEFENDERS.

How do you defend yourself? What do you do to keep things private? Is it a pair of oversized shades, blocking FB stalkers friends, claws for nails (loooove this), screening BBM (ahem-who said that)? It’s nothing …

I’m not much for her music (anymore – hey, we were all 16 year olds once), but I’m liking what NYLON’s done to emo queen. It must be the cool lighting and the clubmaster-like frames.

It’s a magazine launch in Toronto – Dressed to Kill Magazine is new and launching during LGFW. Party it on at the Dolce Social Ballroom at 647 King Street W – RSVP is necessary. Nothing like a party on April 1 (it’s also the end of LGFW F/W 2010 tomorrow, so take advantage!)

In a not-so-distant future, MTV’s FORA Magazine will launch (a joint venture with surprisingly, Clean & Clear). A week ago I had the fun of heading down to catch the filming of Kelly Cutrone on the Aftershow with Jesse Cruickshank and Dan Levy at the Masonic Temple (I can’t even remember the last time I was there – possibly for a Lauren Conrad filming). Following a bump in with miss Jules and Janet from Lotus Leaf, industry and media folk were ushered through a maze of old fashioned elevators and …

Plenty cool – the fourth shirt of a six part series in a limited edition collective from ION Magazine x Robert Mearns. Nothing like getting a little taste of the rich Vancouver cultural flavour prior to going there. They call this one Ernie ‘10 – it’s a street-infused, raw design that men and women can jump into. Have a look at the rest of the collabo here. $30.00 for a piece of limited-ness.

Robert Mearns is a young and talented artist from Vancouver. Robert is known for his photorealistic portraits of …

If anyone’s a sucker for cool aesthetics…it’s most definitely, DEFINITELY me. I’m finding what seems to make for good presents as of late are really slick publications, and PUSH IT | The Story So Far (Volume 1 & 2) is noooo exception. Maybe it’s the novelty of calling something a “bookzine”, but whatever they’ve put together, I’m appreciating it visually.

Their words, not mine:

The Story So Far is a visual chronicle featuring the many new and  featured beautifully shot editorials that became synonymous with PUSH IT Magazine, charting our rise from …

Really digging the black and white series in H&M’s magazine this go. It’s an art to have photography devoid of colour. Enjoy my few snaps and go get your own in store.

It’s been a little while since I went to an event (mostly because I’ve been so busy planning THE PEEK), but this was definitely worth breaking the hiatus. Held at the Andrew Richard Designs Loft, the event was a catered, dj-ed, well decorated, fashion-maven-rich event. I bumped into some familiar faces, and finally got to meet Ashley Rowe of Miss Rowe fame (I did a Q&A with her a little while back, you can revisit it here). It was a great review of the trends that we should expect in …

The new issue is out and about – CONTRA MAG has done it again with its image-rich online magazine. It’s always got that graphically charged imagery that we lust for in a magazine, this time with a New York flavour. Peppered with profiles on what’s late and great in New York, interesting folk that raise from there, and hella good fashion finds, I’m pretty confident CM has managed to boost NYC travel interest from local Torontonians.

Checkity it out at thinkcontra.com. Keep killin it Trung and MILA!
