Just une slight shoutout to ION Magazine – they’ve nabbed Lykke Li for the front cover of this month’s issue (pretty rad timing as she just did a great show in Toronto early February, and has been making waves with Aritzia as of late). This is bloc giving some BLOCK love – THE BLOCK (alright this is starting to sound a bit much in one sentence) MAGAZINE is something that came upon me and allowed me a double take. The imagery is stark yet bold, avant garde and high-end, and has me staring at the intricately styled editorial shots. Somehow it’s managed to capture modern, classic, and street sentiments. For example, think DKNY versus Onitsuka Tiger (Asics) and Miss Sixty as avid advertisers.

I know you want them goodies. Okay that’s the first and last r+b reference I make for awhile – but aside from that, one of Toronto’s slickest has put out another edition – CONTRA MAG is out again with their newest edition “goodies”, detailing the freshest and most delish in sneaks, blogs, tech, dvds, and everything cool that you could possibly want to read about.
This issue is really rich in dramatic black and white photography and as always, delivers some really creative and avante-garde styling. I’m also loving the wrap-up …

America’s V, France’s WAD, the UK’s Exit, Japan’ Huge—they’re all here in a tidy, one-stop guide for lovers of international style and fashion photography (which in this issue, happens to be stunning).

This quarterly urban fashion and culture magazine is not getting enough attention. I first discovered it when I was in Paris a few years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Like most magazines, each issue has a specific theme but unlike other fashion and culture magazines, WAD actually goes into depth in its coverage of the topic.
