Here we go – The EATONS are back again, with cover art from mister Flex. Come out to the Silver Dollar on August 26th (oh, Thursday eh?) and give them a deserving cheers to the new CD. Join Boris and co (and me!) starting at 9:00pm and tap your feet along with some sweet new tunes. The other bands featured aren’t half-bad either, which is half reason for you to come out. So, come!

Rather than being my usual dismissive self when it comes to emails from strangers (you wouldn’t believe how many us bloggo-fiends get), I wanted to give this a shot. I’m not a huge fan of naming that involves the word “Tha” (or rather, tha word tha), I think the cinematography is great on this one, and it’s all about spotting Toronto up and comers. So here ye go, Tha Prophecy final chapter. Is it seemingly a departure from my regular reportings? Myeh, I’m dismissive of that thought. urbanebloc = next …

“Some kind of awesome” was the first thing I thought when I saw DJ Glew’s Mixtape Cover. It’s Pandemonium, hosted by Kardinal Offishall. Some of the illest-est-est sick-est-est-est tracks of the summer are hosted on this. Give it a whirl yourself here: (CLICK YO MOUSE HURR).
Sorry guys, my lack of humour hurts.

I was addicted to The Rapture a little ways back when it came to working retail (whoa whoa whoa, hang on a second. Might be better not to reawaken those thoughts). They’re a band with a definitive dose of quirk, and just there right amount of whacky. In any which case, they’re coming to Toronto to do a DJ set with surefire spunk (sorry guys, if I can get away with employing alliteration I surely will).
Tickets are up online and offline, here’s the link for the on: http://guestlistapp.com/events/23628

There is a wiki site dedicated to the How I Met Your Mother episode stating that “nothing good happens after 2am“. But I found out first hand, that from June 14th – June 20th, there could be an exception to that rule, but only on three conditions. (1) 650 bands are rocking out across 50 venues (2) said bars are open until 4am for the NXNE music + film + interactive festival in Toronto and (3) numerous open bar events ramping up to the Much Music Video Awards the same …

Shop Song was ringing through my headphones for the longest time – and the one accountable for doing this to me was none other than miss PEARL FUTURE (aka Pearly), the next power vocalist emerging from Bay Area, US. We first got in touch through the beauty of social networking – a la MySpace. Being amazingly down to Earth (if you can believe – this girl moderates her own page comments and takes the time to respond), Pearl Future did a little Q&A for urbanebloc.com on her upcoming gigs.
She’s …

Indie bands can be a dime a dozen – but what isn’t is a band that comes along producing music that makes you jam out unknowingly while listening to them. And by that I mean a band that has you bopping in your seat while multi-tasking, and singing along to words that you didn’t realized you had learned. TV Heart Attack, based out of Vancouver (Thorny Bleeder Records), is a band starting to make waves with their latest EP “Lost in the Sway“. Lucky me happened to be in Van …

My loves Dragonette is going to be on tour with Little Boots and Fan Death. While Fan Death isn’t as familiar as the other names to me, I’m all to certain that this is going to be a blast of a tour (they’re slated to come to Toronto on April 30th – anyone down?)
As if that wasn’t enough to get overexcited when opening my email, I’ve been provided with an amazing remix of Pick Up The Phone by Arithmatix! (I know, there have been way many of them). But trust, …

Tik Tok on the clock and the party don’t stop (no, oh oh until 20 minutes later because that’s when it did). The KE$HA Party in Toronto was a little treatlet that was dropped a week before – thanks Sony. While the party was pretty bumping (yes, alongside some sweethearted 16 year olds with KE$HA-like makeup), it ended quickly. Loved the lasers, relished in the ribbon, and giggled at the band. Some good times were had by Wynne and I.
Thanks KE$HA! Thanks also for the video that someone managed to …
