15 Minutes with Lady GaGa

Posted by Gloria on October 26th, 2008 - 16 Comments

She’s the infectious voice of “Just Dance” (dadadoodoo), has the most distinctive style around, is blowing up on music charts internationally, and she’s also an ’86 baby. Though Lady GaGa is signed to Konvict Music, her early beginnings raised from the underground New York club scene, performing with “shock art” donning hot pants and bikini tops, and lighting cans of hairspray on fire.

If you look past the exhibitionist front, you’ll realize that Lady GaGa is a fierce talent with a sharp tongue and an even sharper attitude.

If you only know her as “that-girl-that-sings-that-song” – that’s about to change. Lady GaGa’s first album is coming out on October 28th, 2008, and is so incredibly electro-dance-infused you’ll feel a surge of energy and renewed feel-happiness

What’s Lady GaGa really like as a person to chat with? Entertaining to say the least – she’s not only a fun-loving and engaging conversationalist, but she’s got great instinct and depth. Plus, she received my silly questions and pipsqueak voice well. Thanks!

I love music, and I pride myself in (usually) having a pretty eccentric and eclectic (love that word) mix of tracks. Hence my need to add the “bloc music” speech bubble into the mix. Check it out from time to time to see what new music I have stuck in my head (I predict changing it a lot). All it takes is a little clicky on the right to start the song of the moment.

Let me know what you do or don’t like!

Not to sound all groupie-like, but this is a callout to The Eatons, who will be playing at THE PEEK early October, at the New Era Flagship Store (Queen West Yall!). They’re coming out with some great new material, but in the meantime you can check their EP available on iTunes and MySpace. The Eatons are getting some good buzz around town, so check ‘em out now now now. They’re addictive man.

Did I say now? I meant now.

Crystal Castles

Part fashion and part lifestyle. I just wanted to let you folks know about something that’s gotten me all wired up – Crystal Castles (great nouveau music-style duo from Toronto, comprised of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass) is playing at Harbourfront Centre for FREE. Here are the deets:

Who: Crystal Castles

When: 9:30pm, July 5, 2008

Where: Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay, Sirius Stage

Why: Just listen to their amazing music.

Listening to this stuff makes me so nostalgic, I remember hopping on a bus at 6am to make it to the morning shift, playing their tracks at the crack of dawn. Tell me how it is if you go!
