Fight the box! You know what I mean – the unflattering, shapeless, awkwardly patterned ski jackets that tend to be on the market for ladies. Luckily I came across this one – a plain, perfect, belted wonder by Firefly (found at Athletes World and Sport Chek). Be not fooled by the 2d image of it on web, it really is a great jacket for the fashionista looking for a compromise when snowboarding. Fool proof (and was 20% off $169.99).
What’s your favourite brand for boarding jackets?

> the gorgeous black book is from brave leather. thank you!
2010 is bursting with opportunity after the close of a huge 2009. It’s astounding how quickly the first week has passed – only another 51 to go. Let’s make them good.
Thanks to JB Smith Photography for doing a really impromptu (ah, key word) shoot with me – more on-the-fly imagery coming.
I’m going to be more mobile this year so hopefully we’ll see some diverse backdrops throughout le blog.
Time to go snow tubing, catch you all soon!

Swapify Your Wardrobe happened a week ago at Proper Reserve on Queen. Goodies on the table, threads on the hangers, bags on the shelves, and Cazz shoes for sale made for a really great backdrop for the swap. I love the eco-friendly factor and the excuse for social gathering with some amazing girls. As for the actual swappage? I went home with a romper, two pairs of boots, a purse, jeans in an amazing wash, shirts, and loads of sweets (thanks to Carolyn and Wynne for baking!)

If you’ve been peeking at my phone or following me on twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been working on vidjeo with Flex. Happy to say that it’s done and out the door for your viewing (dare I say, pleasure?)
A bit more on the video:
The clothes spelling out the shoot are my own
It was created on the 4th floor of unnamed technology-enhanced-learning building. Ahem.
Shot from the 5th floor of the same building
Laid out white sheet paper to act as backdrop
Logo was built out with many tweaks – literally an art attack. …

How to be a Mountie:
Visit Value Village and pick up a ranger hat and red Chinese jacket (I know this much from the “Dynasty” label). Colour buttons black. $14.
Go in search for a horse on a stick. By stroke of luck, he might just happen to be the last one perched randomly on a platform at Zellers. If the label looks old, ask for a price check. You might just luck out with the cashier ringing it in at….$2. Feel free to name him. I did. Chestnut Periwinkle to be …

I was loitering outside the LG Fashion Week tent, waiting for Miss Karizza and catching up with Mr. Trung Hoang of CONTRA Mag (who just released an anniversary issue – pretty bomb), when Jonathan Loek asked to snap a photo of me. Being the ever confident person I am (sarcasm – I’m a nerd), I thought not to fix myself up proper for this snap (whoops! Dampered day I suppose). Blackberry in hand and flat hair complete, I requested not to look short (for those of you who know me…that …

I was gifted with two lovely Kiss the Girl T-Shirts for review – and I must say that I was pleasantly delighted. While I’m not usually an advocate for graphic tees, I found these ones of what I’d almost deem excessively comfortable, just the right amount of kitsch, and the perfect go-to for a casual day of…you guessed it, weekend work. Throw on a lavender dress shirt (I’m obsessed with the perma wrinkle one that I got from Talula), a waist belt (the one pictured is my favourite belt, Brave …

My favourite bangles placed over my favourite shirt of right now. Alas, they’re just from Forever 21 (though I buy from them on absolute rare occasion). It was a happy pick of mine that seem to be treating me well.
I’ve received a request to do a post on business casual clothes, as well as a suggestion to display my closet. Be on the lookout for that coming up (sorry, I’ve been a tad time pressed lately).
Also coming – a feature on Label (designs from Toronto), a couple cool products, an …

Some of you may not know that I have a strong appreciation for origami and all things beautiful in paper form. I still look back so fondly at those days when I was 11 and had an origami business with the very talented Janet Hum (who went off to do fashion design and actually closed off Mass Exodus Ryerson 2008). We created decorated bottles filled with stars, roses, cranes, butterflies, and all things that we knew how to fold. I still fold origami turtles, shirts, and cranes when I’m bored …

This image is by no means a Debbie Downer-infused one. It’s a tribute to the summer neutrals that I was happy to sport for the last few months. While the colouring might not tip towards a more light and breezy nature, rest assured these pieces were fantastic for the warm (and not so warm) weathers. Although I definitely see myself still sporting some of these pieces whilst layering.
Can you tell what’s in this photo? To save yourself some heavy squinting, I’ll spell it out for you:
