Henrik Vibskov

I first heard about Henrik Vibskov in a book listing 100 up-and-coming designers but I had never really checked out his collections until now. His designs are, well, very Scandinavian, which I love. Fashion seems to always focus on the same Paris, Milan and New York based designers, which at times leads to repetition and a lack of innovation (design-wise). Scandinavian labels have a different take on fashion and in recent years I feel that they’ve really been experimenting to create lines that are fresh and exciting.

When going through Henrik Vibskov’s lookbook I found that it was a bit too “new rave” at times, but there are definitely some solid pieces in the collection. Henrik Vibskov, who also plays in a band, seems to prefer the oversized look, as seen with his baggy hobo-esque dress pants. His black and white patterned cardigans are perfect for Danish (and Canadian) winters, as are his jackets. However, my favourite items are the dress shirts that seem to have been ripped and re-sewn or patched near the buttons.

Let’s just say that I can’t wait until my exchange semester in Copenhagen to check out these designs first-hand and hopefully they’ll be a bit more affordable, but I’ll let you know once I’m over there!

    Hi Daniel!
I love scandinavian brands as well, but I prefer swedish brands which often are more clean and minimalistic, but still not boring. Danish brands like Stine Goya, wood wood, peter jensen and Henrik Vibskov are very different from the swedish ones. More “street”, more bold prints and colors and a lot of huge oversized stuff.
They are a bit too “new rave” for me too like you said. Don’t really like bold prints and tent like dresses, but it is still many nice pieces.
