In popping through for a little fall cleaning (to follow up the spring clean up of my Hotmail inbox), I’ve peered into my Windows Live Hotmail and have been greeted by my ever beloved Windows Live Messenger. Jumping out right from my Hotmail Browser window, I could see my friends shimmering green to signal their availability for me to ping them. It’s a reminder right from my email inbox that friends are still up and may just be as available online as you are. Hotmail’s web based Windows Live Messenger is simple – contacts, profile, and adding friends are the focal points under the tab, top and center.

Vintage Hotmail Memories
Windows Live Hotmail and Messenger were the services where I would connect with my friends nightly in high school (the moniker there still remains “Globia”). These are the tools where I worked with university pals on statistics cases (shudders), the one where I wrote in alternating caps and used far too late into the night. Hotmail’s still my go-to for keeping in touch with those far, far away. It’s a staple – your emails about the cottage, homework, and what Bobby totally said to Mindy, all accompanied with a play by play instant messenger tool to pull the conversation all together. Nothing like a one stop shop for staying in contact with your friends (and maybe even frenemies).
Go Mobile
Obviously this bloggerella’s stuck to her phone. These days no one seems to call anymore – thank goodness for integration with Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail, I’m not about to go unconnected. Windows Live Messenger sounds like and looks just like the original desktop version – but more compact to make nice with your phone. The best thing? It’s a messaging service compatible between Windows Phone, Blackberry and iPhone – no worries about the battle of the operating systems (phew). Plug in your Windows Live Hotmail credentials and you’ll be ready to rock (and or) roll.

Thanks so much to Windows Live Hotmail for giving me the opportunity to review their services – I opened a time capsule and new ideas with this one. Cheers! xo – urbanebloc.
