Juiced Up: A Total Cleanse Review
I decided to do a detox after feeling constantly sluggish, heavy and tired despite rest and relaxation efforts over some time. So I was ecstatic to discover a Toronto based juice cleanse delivery service, Total Cleanse, that offered a fresh variety. The thought of just juice and only juice all day every day was at first intimidating but I embraced the challenge as a gateway to more conscious eating habits in the long run, as I’ve heard detoxes can work wonders!
A detox is a natural process where the body rids itself of all the toxins and waste build up that is affecting your ability to function to its maximum potential. It helps remove toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis that our natural detox system can’t do. All the energy your body uses to break down the unhealthy stuff you consume could be used as energy to think clearer and perform better. The cleanse promotes well being and can improve your digestive health and vitality. Your body will be able to absorb nutrients a lot better and the differences are definitely noticeable, especially in my case. I signed up for a two-day Energize Cleanse with six juices each day: two Green, two Spiced Lemonade, one Very Berry and one Cashew milk.
This Energize Cleanse was said to provide you with an efficient balance of nutrients which will detoxify your body making you feel energized all day since the juices contain enough fat and calories to last you. I woke up on the first morning of the cleanse with the coolers on my doorstep. The mixed brews are numbered for the day and make the experience quite easy, drinking them about two to three hours apart. I didn’t have any headaches or side effects and my energy levels didn’t drop even at work. My mood remained stable and at times, even more up beat than usual! I breezed through my day without any signs of fatigue while looking forward to the next juice. I wasn’t starving although I craved for solid food especially when I smelled or saw it. The good thing is, the juices were tasty. Total Cleanse uses a hydraulic press to extract the highest concentration of vitamins and minerals for nutritionally dense drinks. I didn’t favour the Green juice much and it quickly became the hardest one to drink, mostly because it tasted and smelled funny, like celery. The lemonade was made with maple syrup and cayenne pepper, which gave it a refreshing kick. The Very berry was a sweet treat and the smooth Cashew milk was my favourite to end the day with.
The most important thing I did throughout the cleanse was remembering the intention I set for myself as the purpose to doing the cleanse: it was to give my body a break, to eliminate toxins and to re-inspire a health conscious lifestyle. I now also have a better understanding of how to control my appetite and eliminated bloating. I feel light and clean as a whistle post cleanse with lots of energy! My two-day cleanse costed $120 but prices vary depending on the delivery area and number of cleanse days.
