Louis Vuitton x Comme des Garcons bags

Comme des Garcons and Louis Vuitton

It’s not everyday you see two brands on opposite ends of the fashion spectrum come together. On one hand you have LV the king of monograms and commercialized fashion and on the other, Comme des Garcons the quirky, low-key, avant-garde label working together to create a historic line of women’s hand bags to commemorate LV’s 30th anniversary in Japan.

“In designing them, I have kept Louis Vuitton’s traditional concept as it is, but sometimes two handles become one, sometimes two handles become eight…” - Rei Kawakubo, Creative Director of CDG (source: Bag Snob)

Apparently these babies will be pretty rare and hard to obtain, as only orders placed at the CDG store in Tokyo are accepted. Looks like CDG’s been on the uprising, their SS09 menswear collection which was shown in Paris last month was in my opinion their strongest in years.

Other labels that have collaborated with CDG include Fred Perry, SPEEDO (I almost bought a pair, no lies), Nike, North Face, and Levis. Also, be on the lookout for that H&M collaboration in the fall.
