In honour of the heat that is Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 (go get it), I thought I’d give you a taste of the very progressive but elusive Maison Martin Margiela, by the Antwerp Six’s said seventh member, Martin Margiela.
Never heard of it? Well, M3 has actually been quite successful among the Euro set for at least two decades, using Japanese deconstruction techniques and non-traditional fabrics to give the brand it’s particular edge.
If you’ve been wondering where to get those one-lens shades that make you look extra incognito and all “Geordi” from Star Trek TNG this is the place.
That being said, you can’t really go wrong working under Gaultier, as Margiela did before starting the house; and you really must be doing something right to be chosen as Hermes’ ready-to-wear Chief Designer, and subsequent Artistic Director.
Entire magazines have been dedicated to the brand and, yes, curated by Margiela. In October, the first book to document the life and times of the house will be released by Rizzoli for (a measly) $100 USD.
So what do you think?
