Wow… I never thought I’d see this day. Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcons (CDG) fame will be turning over to the mainstream come next November when she releases a menswear and womenswear collection for H&M. CDG has always been known for its avant garde roots and its uncompromising dedication to quality and design. I’ve always put CDG and Kawakubo on a pedestal for not putting business first and cutting corners so I was quite surprised when I heard about this collaboration.
“I have always been interested in the balance between creation and business,” says Kawakubo of the collaboration. “It is a dilemma, although for me creation has always been the first priority. It is a fascinating challenge to work with H&M since it is a chance to take the dilemma to its extreme, and try to solve it.” – Vogue.co.uk

I really dislike that this collab will only account for a fraction of what the CDG brand stands for, but hey, its Kawakubo! And its arguably the most exciting H&M collaboration since Karl Lagerfeld. What do you guys think?
