The Oxford Saddle Shoe has returned and they are pretty damn cool (if you can pull it off).
The last time these shoes were a prominent footwear trend teenie boppers were shuffling to early rock ‘n’ roll in the ’50s however these two-tones are now being sported as a casual shoe for summer. Like their preppy boat shoe brethren, it is best to wear a pair sans socks utilizing some talcum powder to fight the foot sweat. Maybe even roll up your jeans and show some ankle.
If you are interested you should check out Cole Haan which offers a few nice pairs of Saddle Shoes. My favourite are the Air Colton Saddle which feature soft nubuck and perforated leather as well as good old Nike Air technology in the heel.
Weee!
Saddle shoes are my ABSOLUTE favourite footwear! I remember trying to find them just before the newest swing music movement(they were in for a bit in the late 90s, yes?)and people looking at me like I was insane.
So nice to be able to find them almost anywhere now. Le sigh.

Or if you were a student at Chilton on Gilmore Girls! Haha. I could totally rock these ; )
I am LIVING in oxfords this summer. They give otherwise boring outfits some oomph!
I got mine a few years back from here:

I see that the site hasn’t changed. The people are super nice and all about being authentic. Many different styles available too.
(No, I don’t work for them.)
Tee-hee! A whole store for saddle shoes. I loved the heels.
Oh, now I want to go swing dancing!
