The Review: The Switch

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed “The Switch“. The movie is about an unmarried 40-year-old woman (Jennifer Aniston) that turns to a sperm donor in order to become pregnant. Seven years later, she reunites with her best friend (Jason Bateman), only to learn that he replaced her preferred sperm sample with his own.

The premise sounds a bit gimmicky, but the movie itself is delivered with heart. Jason Bateman steals each scene with his boyish charm and comedic timing, while Jennifer Aniston looks as radiant as ever. “The Switch” is witty and had me giggling and in tears. The relationship between Jason Bateman’s Wally, and his ‘sperm-baby’ Sebastian played by the adorable Thomas Robinson is heart-wrenchingly sincere. Despite the predictable plot, this movie is just sappy and happy enough for a very satisfying ‘watch on DVD’ movie. Or better yet, it’s a pretty good date movie too.

    The kid stole the show.
So does Bateman…he finally plays not such a jerk since arrested development!
