Smart Set - Fashion at Play

Fashion at Play, Me

A little while ago Smart Set launched a campaign leveraging the social epicentre of Facebook and interactive media (check fashionatplay.ca if you haven’t already). There you’ll find some pretty infectious music and addictive spin-cubes to appease your clothes-matching desires. A great initiative that they started for lucky bloggers (including myself) was to allow them to shop at Smart Set, on them. Seeing as I already sporadically pick up some work-goodies there, I decided to take them up on the offer.

The program would initiate with me sending an item of clothing for them to base a customized styling on. I sent in a dress that I got last year, however Smart Set decided to use the theme of the dress for a new look.

I’m desperately in need of work ready clothing, so I bought the two most perfect items in the store that I could get my hands on - a striped well-structured jacket, and an adorable three-button pocket skirt, with a great texture. Just goes to show that you really can find something for every girl in this store (and not just basics!)

Thanks for all of your help Rayanne!

Hey Ria! I just want to say that even though I’m not into fashion at all, this site is still really great! It’s entertaining, colourful, and cute! I really like the items that are posted, you bring up interesting things all the time! I agree that Smart Set definitely has a lot of professional clothing for today’s young women who are stepping into the workforce. The store carries sizes for REAL women (from XS to XL) and their attire is flexible to work with! I worked there for a very short awhile and the only so-called “negative” thing I have to say is that their XS isn’t small enough for me. But it shouldn’t be a major issue with most people because I am, after all, a really short person. :P

And oh, what I like this about this site is that you don’t go around praising every single thing on the market. There is actual criticism and you give the audience thought-provoking questions! I like riffling through the category links on the side of the page!

Thanks so much for the kind words Sandy - it’s great to hear positive feedback when you’re working hard, just the thing we need to spur more momentum.

UrbaneBloc is going through a bunch of changes in the next little while so look out ;D It’ll get a lot better. Ps - I got a dslr finally!

How are you these days? Working at the same place? Great to hear from you again!

This is a great review of Smart Set and fashionatplay.ca, Gloria! Sounds like you bought some great finds. You should show us what you decided to buy!

    Hey Rayanne!

Great to hear from you - but the main picture of the post and what I mentioned in the post IS what I decided to buy (the jacket and skirt)

Let me know what you think!

Silly! Where did you think the photo came from? :) Recognize the clothing?
