Smell that baby? That’s New York!

Bond No. 9

Ah New York. How do you pay homage to the city of love, lights, life, fashion, art, and everything in between?

You make it smell nice.

Bond no. 9 (named for their headquarters at 9 Bond St. in NoHo—not James) is a full fragrance collection dedicated to the city that never sleeps. Each one of the 34 eau de parfum is devoted to a “specific downtown, midtown or uptown locale or city-wide sensibility”.

Claiming to be on a mission to “restore artistry to perfumery”, most of the scents come in its own custom bottle that reflects the personality of the perfum and/or its user i.e. “The Scent of Peace’” dove or the “Wall Street” monogram (think LV, Coach or Gucci). And the limited edition bottles—Swarovski for days! Blinding with prices upwards of $3500.

Speaking of artistry, Bond recently introduced “Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue” in celebration of what would have been the artist’s 80th birthday. Adorned with a recreation of his illustration, Stamped Shoes, the scent joins the two other Bond no. 9 fragrances dedicated to the late icon, “Andy Warhol Union Square”, and “Andy Warhol Silver Factory”.

Why the shoes besides them, along with a good scent, being obvious fashion staples? Warhol drew shoes—lots and lots of shoes before he made Marilyn pink and put Campbell’s soup cans on walls.

A little on the obsessive side, as any good shoe lover should be.
