It’s that time again. Runway shows for Spring/Summer 09 menswear collections are about to start in Milan (June 21-25) and Paris (June 26-29), bringing fashion lovers another two full weeks of unbridled excitement! The shows I’m looking forward to seeing (On YouTube unfortunately :( ) include:
For Milan…
JIL SANDER – One of my current favourite labels. Raf Simons’ work for Jil Sander has recently been top notch, and in my opinion, better than his own mainline.
VERSACE – Since acquiring ex-Cloak designer Alexandre Plokhov as a consultant, Versace has made their turnaround in menswear. I have high hopes for this collection!
For Paris…
JULIUS – It’s Julius’ first runway show in Paris and I can’t wait to see what kinda drapey gothalicious clothing they’ll have for SS09.
ATTACHMENT – `nuff said.
YOHJI YAMAMOTO – Yohji is the most consistent designer I’ve seen thus far. This season should be as good as the rest.
JOHN GALLIANO – I don’t really like Galliano, but I think his shows are hilarious, overly dramatic, and very entertaining to watch. Who else sends a minotaur and a bunch of pirates down the runway?!
RAF SIMONS – Raf is currently considered as king of the menswear hill. Though his mainline has recently been pretty sub-par compared to his work at Jil Sander lets see if he can do better this season.
