Summerlicious is a staple for me in Toronto – it takes me to that happy place where food is grand and daily indulgences are welcomed. It marks the start of the summer, and the nearing of a certain someone’s birthday (wink wink, nudge nudge).

So where did my journeys lead me to for this year’s abundant selection of dinner venues? La Maquette is a two story wonder with a pleasantly surprising homeliness to it. Upon entrance we were greeted with a winding staircase in front and an AMEX photo booth to our right (naturally we took three sets).

What was special at the event itself was a surprise and delight treat for every patron of the restaurant. Diners were given a complimentary coffee or tea just for showing up for dinner and mentioning the #Amexlicious promo code, plus if they paid for their meal with their Amex Card, they received a $20 gift certificate to La Maquette. In the vid below, you’ll see chats with some of the folks that enjoyed a stellar meal at La Maquette, as well as a talk with Angie, the owner of the restaurant.

And in order to get you more jealous, I’ve included snaps of our incredible food – from savoury veal (accompanied with melt in your mouth potatoes and crisp and fresh veggies) to large scallops prepared to perfection. Top it all off with an astonishing dessert and you’ve got yourself a good night.
