It’s been a while since I’ve heard any news on my favorite reality celeb turned fashion designer (slash author), Lauren Conrad, but as always, the girl manages to jump back into the spotlight, and not for any drama in her life – instead, to showcase a new talent of hers. This one’s called “Paper Crown” – a chic new clothing line created ”for girls who like to play dress up in a grown-up world”.
Grown-up indeed. Gone are the days of the cutesy cotton mini-dresses that were a staple in the designer’s first venture, the Lauren Conrad Collection. Paper Crown has upped the ante with designs that are bolder, more tailored and sophisticated, but that still ring true to LC’s sweet and feminine signature style. Key looks from the line include the body-skimming Lola Dress in Eclectic Blue (worn by the designer herself); the oh-so romantic Ella Gown in Floral Vine print – a flowy, tiered number reminiscent of LC’s beachy Laguna days; and the Ryder Blazer in Camel, with a silk blouse and leather shorts (very LC circa The Hills, season 5).
The designer celebrated the launch of her new line at Nordstrom in September during L.A.’s Fashion’s Night Out earlier in the month. No word yet on when it will be available in Canada. Please make it soon.

Kudos to the girl with the most stunningly blown out hair I’ve seen as of late. I dig this perfectly contrasted black and white photo. But not more than her perfectly done frocks.

I have a lucky sneak peek at the upcoming line from our beloved LC. The LC – Spring/Summer 09 has proven to be a really progressive one for Conrad, I’m finding myself more and more in favour of the girly presentation and tone that her line has personified.
My favourite? The Blair dress – I’m a sucker for white dresses (which I keep buying and I’m completely unable to wear for fear of overdoing the fancy factor in the office). I also like the cream version of the Heley – it’s classic, exudes ‘pretty’, and skinny belts just do me in.
The line will be showing at LA Fashion Week (which is…this week!) – the photoshoot images foreshadow a great runway presence. Check out the MB Fashion Week Website after Tuesday, October 14th, 8pm, which is when the Lauren Conrad Collection hits the elevated-platform (aka…runway).
View the descriptor and early preview images after the hop-skip-jump.
