2013 urbanebloc

If there were any way to describe this year for myself and urbanebloc, it would be massive. Absolutely massive. The underlying theme for the entire 365 days that marked 2013 was epic change – no other year has been as incredibly transformative in a positive and unruly way. Here are a few ways how:

New York Fashion Week

My first time with Christine at NYFW, where she absolutely annihilated coverage and met Susie Bubble and Song of Style. We later managed to claw our way to a photo with Rumi Neely and Bryan Boy after Rebecca Minkoff…and life was never the same again. We were hooked, and little did we know that this would set us on the fast track to change. Other highlights: visiting the Michael Kors Showroom, the Style Coalition Lounge, and more.

AOL StyleList Announcement

Lucky me, joined a new media network where I would be able to contribute articles and be featured in AOL StyleList. StyleList.ca made its big launch announcement on April 4th, and I happily had my name placed in the Financial Post. Not too shabby.

Fruttare x Coachella

I became an ambassador for Unilever’s newest ice cream launch, FRUTTARE (the same folks that brought you Magnum, etc). While I was in San Diego earlier this year, I giddily accepted the offer and had the opportunity of a life time to visit Coachella as a VIP. As part of the program, urbanebloc was a judge for their Search for the Next Blogger Contest – and we found some key talent in Canada. Oh, and somehow we ended up on the front page of Yahoo, and received some crass comments.

urbanebloc held a small gathering of clothing swappers with a whole lot of wonderful sponsors (popchips, vitaminwater, and LOFT).

Canon PowerShot N

Canon released their newest consumer camera in the spring time with a bang – I shot for 8 hours in one day, a spot that showed on a series of networks (HGTV, etc) in Canada. It was my first time doing something of the likes, requiring scripting and voiceovers, and a whole lot of energy. Love this camera…and loved my life. Some behind the scenes were posted on the blog!

MasterCard Fashion Week

World Master Card Fashion Week

MASTERCARD! I was a Stylicity Ambassador twice this year, enabling me to show two of my favourite neighbourhoods in Toronto – King West and Queen West. I had too much fun exploring and meeting store owners to highlight their promotions.

RBC Blues Fest

I’ve always wanted to go to Ottawa – with our Contributor Amanda in tow, off we jetted to our great nation’s capital to meet people like Tegan and Sara and enjoy music in the sun. More on our adventures in Ottawa…

Chevy x Osheaga

My, we did a lot of music festivals this summer, hmm? Chevy invited us to attend Osheaga this summer – and my, did we have the time of our lives getting there. Icona Pop, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore, Tegan and Sara (we’re spoiled, we know) all took the stage. Oh, and I was an FCUK Ambassador for the weekend, donned in all kinds of wonderful items from the season.

Canon Ambassador Program

This was the year of the cameras – I was lucky enough to be included in a small group of bloggers who were gifted with a series of photography lessons (#CanonBlogtography). We learned how to shoot portraits, runway, frame images to find a story, and a beautiful amount more. One of the best life skills I could ever have asked to be rewarded.

Pringles Penthouse Party

My, we threw a lot of parties, and Pringles, you were one of the epic ones. All duck face smiles – we held a private event at the Cosmopolitan Hotel for urbanebloc x Tunezy’s end of summer bash. Pictures? Sure, see ’em here.

Tunezy Announcement

Tunezy Announcement

Big news. Big, BIG News. Great risks reap great rewards sometimes, and this became a one-in-a-million lifetime chances that panned out. You never know, until you see it through and know. And I thank my lucky stars for my Tunezy experience.

Everyone has a Story to Tell

Moving to New York

I made a big move that I talked about in this blog post – fresh off the announcement from Tunezy’s acquisition by SFX Entertainment, I secretly moved to New York to start a new, unfamiliar life. Unbeknownst to me, this would be the start of the biggest personal change of my life. A much needed one, that is.

As for Goals?

Well, here are a few:

  1. Blog WAY More
  2. Get involved in the New York Fashion Scene
  3. See the City
  4. Take more photos
  5. Get involved in more fashion / styling
  6. MORE Music Posts
  7. Learn Guitar
  8. Cooking Posts
  9. More Life + Relationships Posts (Think…Sex and the City but more endearing).

And that’s all I’ve got. Awaiting 2014 and all of the beautiful things it has to offer…
