This post is a response to ThatGirl’s recent post titled “The Universal Indifference” which asks “What happened to the movement of men redeeming themselves by caring more about grooming and appearance than ever before?”

Guys, while we are not indifferent, the bad news is we’re ignorant. However, good news is with literally hundreds of magazines and channels devoted to feminine fashion, we are not to blame. With the recent shut down of cargo magazine (one of three great periodicals covering male fashion in North America) we were left with even fewer sources of style instructions beyond our curiously fashionable “straight” friend. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to me that men everywhere are wandering aimlessly around malls empty handed. Like a small pudgy kid that doesn’t dare swim with his shirt off until he loses a couple of pounds, we simply can’t commit to an outfit until our girlfriends, tired of dragging a slob around, finally tells us what to buy.

So girlfriends everywhere, unite! Take your boyfriend shopping, because without your help, we will be stuck as the sweats-loving, raggedy shirted bozos you first fell in love with. Help us swim shirtless girls, we want to so bad.
