It’s been a few years since I gave up reading American Vogue in favour of its British counterpart. Packed with more designer features, glossy fashion spreads, various interest pieces, and — get this — covers that actually feature models (but please excuse April’s cover star, Victoria Beckham), I’ve always found that British Vogue was worth paying twice the cost ($10). In their recent March 2008 edition with cover girl Kate Moss, besides a gorgeous dissection of Spring’s top trends (e.g. the return of the trophy jacket, art meets fashion, tie-dye, etc.) there was a poignant feature entitled “Love Stories.” Proving that exceptional writing can be found in — of all places — a fashion magazine, a favourite excerpt of mine from the article: “Obsessive Love: There is no road back and the bridges are forever burning. When the end comes, it is terrible and absolute because there can be nothing left - no friendship, no future.”

Word. British GQ is also a lot better than its american counter-part.
