This quarterly urban fashion and culture magazine is not getting enough attention. I first discovered it when I was in Paris a few years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. Like most magazines, each issue has a specific theme but unlike other fashion and culture magazines, WAD actually goes into depth in its coverage of the topic. The photography and graphic design is always avant-garde and the magazine doesn’t rely on celebrities to sell. WAD sells based on its content not based on the trendy it-girl featured on its cover (à la Nylon). It’s refreshing to see a magazine that actually tries something…ummm…different.
On second thought, maybe I shouldn’t have written this post. It would be my worst nightmare to see WAD go mainstream.
Is this an online magazine or something we can get in the mail?
I think it’s in print only Jen! You can find it at any bookstore really – Canadian that is!
Sometimes I get really sad that I just can not get any nice magazines as even the nicest shops sell just vogue, glamour and marie claire. (though i do love all of them). It’s just sad in a very funny way when a In style -magazine becomes a “find”.

It’s a quarterly magazine so it won’t always be on the shelves but I think that they still have some copies of the Denim Issue in a few Chapters and other Canadian bookstores (as pointed out by Gloria). I think that you can even subscribe to it on their website. To be honest, I think that the best bookstore for magazines is York University’s bookstore. So if any of you go there or live in the area I definitely recommend stopping by to get some mags! They carry a wide variety including Lula, 10, WAD, Vs. as well as Glamour, Vogue, Nylon etc…
I have found one store in the Netherlands that’s selling this magazine!
I’m sooo fond of it, and it’s not even that expensive (€6,80 – $ 8,67)
