WORLD MASTERCARD FASHION WEEK – DAY 3
With New York Fashion Week still fresh in mind, the past few days at World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto have been an absolute whirlwind. It’s to the point where it’s hard to distinguish between events and shows and when they took place. Everything seems to clobbering together in a big blur of fashion, fur, leather and print.
That said, it’s been an incredibly exciting time! I’ve seen more Canadian designers the past few days than I have in my lifetime, including BUSTLE, Matis by Lucian Matis, Mackage, Joe Fresh (by far my fave!), UNTTLD, Soia & Kyo, VAWK and Heart Truth Fashion Show. And it’s been so nice to see all of Toronto’s fashionistas, media, bloggers, designers, stylists, volunteers under one tent that makes up this stylish machine.
With so much coverage to share, check out the photo highlights below from Day 3 of my World Mastercard Fashion Week Experience!

MATIS BY LUCIAN MATIS FW2013
A very wearable collection with pieces that can take you from day to night, from office desk to dinner date. Simple, classic, and elegant, this collection would be ideal for the working woman looking for versatile staples to add to her wardrobe. As a plus, the models looked uber comfortable walking down the runway too in breathable materials.
FOODIE BREAK @ WRVST
In between shows, I ran to grab a quick bite at WRVST, one of my fave new spots on King west! Completely unpretentious unlike a lot of its neighbours, it’s a welcoming place with large picnic tables and do-it-yourself serving style. Once you make your selection at the front with the multitude types of meat they offer (even kangaroo!), they’ll bring the order to wherever you decide to sit. My go to meal is the mini danger dog ($4) and Dirty Vegetarian Duck Fat Fries ($6.5). Uber affordable and delicious!
BACK AT THE TENTS
In between the shows, there’s lots to keep everyone entertained from the food/drinks bar, taking pics by the new Mercedes Benz SLK, visiting Barbie in her transition home (she’s moving, have you heard?), make up/nail touchups by Maybelline, and more. I took advantage of some time I had before the next show and got my hair did by the Rowenta Beauty team! Check out the final look featuring an upside down braid and heavily teased messy bun below!
Known for their exquisite outerwear, Mackage has launched their first must-have, hand bag collection for the Fall/Winter 2013 season. Lucky for us, the soon to be coveted handbags made their first appearance down the runway. I literally had to stop myself from running down the runway with the models to get a closer look at these GORGEOUS purses! Photo source: George Pimental Photography
And for the final show of the night, I was thrilled to be attending Joe Fresh on behalf of urbanebloc! Attending this show for the first time, I was completely blown away by how wicked, contemporary and edgy the designs were. Parisian chic x rock and roll hit the runways, with a collection that was mostly in black and white. I was sad to find out after the show that only a few select pieces will actually be in production. If they were to create limited editions from their runway collection, it would surely be a hit and sell out within minutes!
This is the end … for now. Stay tuned for more pics and updates from our time at fashion week in Toronto!
