You know it’s a good flea market when…
People park on hills, grass, double park…
Continuing on with the Flea Market talk, I’m going to make mention of the fact that two weeks ago I visited the most glorious, industrial bargain vendor-gathering that I’ve ever witnessed. Downsview Park Merchant’s Market is an elaborate title for this bare-bones collection of random items for sale, but it also happens to be an incredible haven of quality items for cheap. Sure, you’ll come across ugly fake purses, an abundance of “I LOVE CANADA”/”I LOVE HALIFAX” shirts, and used desks priced above retail, but you’ll love the search for unique accessories and the bulk pricing of Unilever Products (that includes Dove and tiny containers of Tide). I also can’t forget to throw in that they have a rather ethnic food court, inclusive of Jamaican patties manufactured in coincidentally, Downsview, Ontario. The server also happened to be Jamaican, enforcing authenticity – so be not afraid of visiting strictly for your weekly dose of cultural diversity.
Yes, they have an old-school website in the style of your 8th grade Computer Science project, but it’s still good for a chuckle and a half:
Hours: Saturday and Sunday 10am – 6pm.
